You will find quite a bit of sports news spread around Ye Olde Plaindealer pages this week. History was made when our Warriors won the North Suburban championship and further history is made as "Brenda" Rives up the front page for a spread for the team. She's i i^ood kid! The Warriors must have been quite an attraction at Woodstock. The place was packed. Woodstock fans expressed the thought that they lost to a good team. We had just settled into our seals when Tony Roskie came along' and showed his hospitality by offering to get. us lined •up at the scorer's table. We decided to stay put. but the welcome gesture will be remembered for a long time. Some day we may devote a column to our experiences with different schools over a quarter of a century of sports writing. Mike Creighton was somewhat bottled up by Woodstock's height under the boards, but he grabbed 10 rebounds anyway, and hit for a 57.1 %. ! Everyone else on the team did his best to assure victory. •There wasn't much doubt about this game, especially after last week's upset to Zion. Al Beth, Woodstock's 6-3 center, hit for 19 points to lead his team's attack and Carl Moraw had 12. Well, the pressure is off now as far as the conference is concerned. but the idea is to preserve that.20-1 record and advance 1o the regionals in a very respectable position. Dundee's rugged Cardunals come to^toWn for a grudge battle this Friday, Feb. 21. We previously beat the Cards 64-57 down at Dundee. C.ene De- , Lacey's boys are the only team which has beaten Zion besides us. and they have done it twice. (Once by 25 points) In addition. it will be DeLacey's last regular season game after 31 vears of work at Dundee. He recently announced his retire- i ment. and you can bet that his { players will really want this | game as a going-away gift to him.
