The Progressive party has listed Arthur Nelson, who owns and operates a tool and die business in MeHenry, Charles (Chuck) V. Thacker, employed in Chicago, Arthur J. Stuhlfeier, current president of the Aillom-Knoll association and <wner-published of the Newsletter; and Robert Zahn, manager of Illinois Bell Telephone Company, Woodstock area. But with perserverance, they continued, hoping the idea would catch the fancy of everyone. And it DID! Softball Season Soon Weekly training sessions at the Harrison school gymnasium has put the local Softball team in tip-top condition for the coming league season, which starts in May. Since the first of January, the fellows have been playing volley ball.- basketball and other form of exercise, readying themselves for several months of stiff competition. On Sunday afternoon, they had their first workout out of doors,s> at the V.F.W. field, where all the games will be played. The ball team is just one segment of the McCullom Lake Men's club which will be meeting on Wednesday, April. 15 All men of the community are cordially invited to join. Undergoes Surgery Mrs. Margaret Graff is home from St. Joseph's hospital, Elgin, where she recently underwent eye surgery. Mrs. Graff is a former resident of the community and also the mother of Mrs. Margaret Stacknick of Orchard Drive. Many wishes for a speedy recovery. Home from the Hospital Mrs. Alice Gustafson returned home from MeHenry hospital last Wednesday, where she had been a patient. Alice is recovering nicely, but has been warned to take it easy. Here's hoping she will be up and about very soon. Mrs. Alice Thomsen Johnsen was released from Memorial hospital last week ,after the demise of her premature daughter. Shevhas been recuperating at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Thomsen of Chicago until well enough to make the trip to her home in Marlette, Mich. Here's hoping by this time that Paul Nitz is back on the job, after long sessions with doctors and a stay in MeHenry hospital, trying to determine Ihe cause of his disability. Eyes Apoppin' Cute sight was Eima Nelson "tearing" down the road at the appalling speed of 10 miles an hour in the home-made auto, fashioned by husband. Earl. Seems as though a delivery man in a huge truck couldn't believe his eyes at the vision of Elma--on wheels--but so close to the ground. The story goes, that he even made a trip around the block, in order to track down the elusive Mrs. Nelson. He stopped and chatted with Elma and Earl, in order to confirm what his eyes had told him. Needless to say, the kids in that neighborhood are standing in line for their turn! Congrats To Frankie Lorch on the occasion of his seventh birthday, on Monday, April 6. Ed and Bel ty Lehman went with their little ones to nave dinner with Ed's Aunt Hattie in the city. The LaMarr Williams family went to Indianapolis to spend the weekend with Chris's parents and her hrothfefj^and also to visit a sister in Newcastle The Kasperski family wept to Michigan to the home bf Fran's parents. Mr. and Mrs. P. Polcreckv. Everyone had a wonderful time hut it was nice to get back home. We could have used more bakery goods because home-made goodies don't last very long. The tables were decorated very springy by Kay Reese and Mrs. MacLauglin can be proud of being the chairman of this affair. A big hand is extended to all of the hard working ladies especially those who came early and stayed late working, and to the women who donated bakery goods and linings for the silent auction. We can all be proud that everything worked out so well. The 4-H Cardinals held their meeting April 2 in the Johnsburg public school. Dever Casey gave a talk on "Babysitting." Mrs. June Stuart, their leader, explained to the girls how to measure themselves for a pattern. The girls acted out some skits that they had prepared for the meeting. Susan Schultz helped in the serving of refreshments. Carol Niemiec gave up this news. Sick List I should really say our recovery list. Don't forget to send your, cheerful greetings to Jim Garrity because he will still have about four more weeks stay in the hospital. Mrs. Plank, we are happy to say, is back home here and is doing fine. Mrs. Casey is. feeling like a new person after having some surgery done last week and we are sure glad to hear that. Trophy Ted and Dolores Prell are real proud of their German Shepard dog Rajah. The Chain bf Lakes has an obedience school for German Shepard dogs and Rajah won a trophy in the beginner's class and his owners are real proud of him. Easter The Cammarata family went to son Phil's home for Easter dinner and to see their new grandchild. MOOSE LODGE 4-H News BUSY THREE CLUB There was a meeting of the Busy Three 4-H club on March 10. There were eighteen members present. We discussed the public speaking contest on March 26, taking extra projects. ar.d where we want to go on our trip this year. The money was collected for the roller skating tickets. After the meeting, refreshments were served. The next meeting will be on April 14. March 31 was a joint meeting with the Loyal Order of Moose. Due to the sickness of the Governor Win Hagberg, John Grist presided over the meeting. Hilary Rodenkirch was master of ceremonies with Dick Gladu at the controls of the slides. They did a take off of "This Is Your Life" with the lives of the Senior Regent Mabel Thomas, Junior Regent Hazel Struke, Graduate Regent Nancy Bowman, chaplain Valerie Patterson, and Recorder Marge Fernstrom and they tell me it was very funny and everyone had a good time.
