ALL, not just a limited few, attend this most important meeting,' because after all we do want the opinion of every one and also the approval from everyone to do what is best for,all of us, as the association is each and everyone of you and not the board as they cannot do a t®ng without ypur first approving it, so let's get out to the American Legion hall next Sunday night at 7 p.m. Vacation Bible School On Friday night the Community Methodist church held a service in conclusion of their two weeks vacation bible school at which time they displayed t-'ir crafts that they worked during these two weeks under the direction of Mrs. Veretta Gerstad, their music teacher, and Jackie Noel who taught sixth grade. Those receiving awards were Bruce and Beth Okal and Dell and Suzy Gerstad. Beaches There have been several chlltysn hurt down at the beach, so everyone going down there for a picnic, please see that all bottles and cans are placed in the recepticals placed there for this purpose. Sorry $irbara, we'll try not to let this happen again as this is Ihe second time Barb's name has been omitted, the time before being when the girl scouts went to the zoo. White Elephant Sale The white elephant sale held last Sunday at the Legion hall by the Lakeland Park Women's club turned out to be a real nice success and we want to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of you who in any way made this possible. The girls who had charge of this project did a lot of work on it and they really deserve a great hand. A Real Surprise There were two children at least who didn't even miss fireworks over the holidays. They were Bruce and Beth Okal who were so excited when their grandfather, J. Paul Cornett, flew his plane in from Colorado to visit them on the Fourth of July. Bobby Okal, who will be one year old this month, was treated to his first plane ride and Bruce and Beth flow back to Chicago where they will spend a few days with their dad visiting Ihe Trade Fair and seeing the fleet. Mail Delivery I know that all of you in Lakeland Shores must be quite happy over Ihe "door to door" mail delivery which finally got started for you on Monday, July 6. If you do not as yet have your mailbox in front of your own house do so as early as possible as this is a great convenience to all of us. Dogs Again the subject of dogs comes up, only this time it's about those who abide by the laws and regulations by keeping their dogs tied up or behind a fence in their own back yard. When animals are kept in this manner, it means to keep away from them, so will the children please not torment them, especially now with the weather getting much warmer animals do not want to be bothered, they too like to relax in the shade and be left alone. So let's just do this, keep away from them. Short Visit Visitors of our fair community for the Fourth were Mr. and Mrs. Vince Alesi and their daughter, Rosery. who at one time were residents on Shore Drive and moved away jusi about a year ago. It was sure good to see Gen anil the baby again although I must say Rofery- is no longer a baby, she is now 2-,_> years old and quite a big girl for her age. Happy Birthday Last Friday night the birthday club consisting of Lee Glorch, Marge Franklin. Esther Cygan, Jean Parisi, Elaine Jett and myself got together at "the home of Elaine Jett to celebrate this time the birthday of Fran Cilia who was the recipient of many lovely little gifts. Along for the evening was my mother who had been staying with me for the week. FAIR PREMH'M BOOKS All three State Fair premium books are now being distributed, according to J. Ralph Peak, fair general manager. Book I combines livestock and general classifications; book II deals exclusively with premiums offered to exhibitors in the junior department, and book III lists all the classifications and premiums offered in the Society and Western Horse Show. Peak said c'osing date for entries is July 20. He urged exhibitors to procure their premium books at once by writing the entry department, Illinois State Fair, Springfield, Illinois. Caution Again I would like the parents to please caution their children who ride bikes. There are many days when the children are in the middle of the road and not looking where they are going or watching for cars. Drivers have to be extra careful because there are a lot of little ones in the village. 4-H Cardinals A special meeting was held June 30 at the home of their leader, June Stuart. Our Sunnyside Home Bureau Chairman, Pat Spindler. gave a demonstration of flower arrangement. A discussion on many subjects was held and books with information about the coming fair were handed out.
