The Kraters hope that who ever did take them have a conscience and next year let them enjoy them. Bombing A joke is a joke and fun is fun but when it comes to bombing of mail boxes this is something quite different. Last week we had two mail boxes rbed here in our communone belonging to the Mc- Enerys and another belonging to the Hagens. Fortunately this time no one was injured but if it should happen again it can be quite a serious thing so who ever it was that did this awful thing, let it be the last before someone is injured. Cub Scouts on ^The following boys of Den 4, Rck 361 were taken on a hike on Saturday morning across the creek here to see the many beautiful trees there and how they are already starting to turn a slightly different color for the fall: Bruce Okal. Ray Bottari, Phil Bucaro, Jimmy Laursen, Jimmy Hansen, Ray Barle and Kenny Prazak. Then on home to lunch and from there to Marge Franklin's for some of her very delicious home made apple pie and then on Friday morning on to Franny's house for french toast, etc., and there it ended, but as you can see. so did the week. DRUG SHORTAGE Drug peddlers are turning to locally grown marijuana to counteract a shortage of the drug from Mexico. In a report last week to State Public Safety Director Joseph D. Bibb, Malachi Harney, state superintendent of n.arcbtic control, said 415 acres of wild-growing marijuana have been wiped out throughout Illinois during , the current growing season. Harney said the eradication program is "by far the most comprehensive project of its kind ever undertaken in Illinois." "Narcotic peddlers prefer the more potent marijuana grown in Mexico," Harney said. "But a relative shortage in this supply has caused peddlers to turn to locally-grown marijuana." Harney called upon landowners to. inspect their property for marijuana and to stamp out any growths that may be forming. Marijuana can be destroyed by mowing or spraying with a weed killer, he said.
