Boy Sroutu ISnJoy Week-end Camp Out iTwelve Boy Scouts from the HTghlands, under the capable leadership of Frank Palmer, en^oyed a weekend camp-out in Lake Geneva. The boys left Friday evening and returned Siunday evening. A big vote of thanks to Joe Murray, Henry Sherman, Eugene Heir and ^Ihdy Brill who assisted Mr. Ffalmer with the boys. It was tSe first time in two years they enjoyed good weather on a trip. Woman's Club 'News :President Lorraine Ullo asks that as many of the women who are now members, or women who wish to become members be at this month's meeting and pay up the yearly dues. News of Your Friends and Neighbors Jane Malek and children and Judy Krumwfede and children, spent May 16, in Park Ridge. Jane visited* with an aunt and Judy spent the day with her girl friend. Forrest and Grace Reinhardt and Ed and Sue Benzli left May 23, for a week's vacation fishing in Wisconsin. Roy and Gert Snell kept the home fires burning for them and entertained Gert's tft'o sisters from Chicago for the week. « Barb Schlick, Trudy Drockner and Kirk Merley participated in the song fest held at the McHenry high school May 15. Carl and Blanche Haefliger enjoyed a week's vacation last week. They took a few short trips visiting old friends. i Congratulations to the John ' Weingarts of Broadway, on the arrival of a baby daughter, bom in Chicago. The Weingarts have two other kiddies. Bill and Emma Rosengart entertained the Roy Snells May 14. The- two couples spent the evening playing their favorite game of pinochle. They enjoyed a late evening luncheon. Cub Scouts The Cub Scouts and their fathers had a wonderful time test Sunday when they visited the Niki site in Half Day. The Cubs will also march again on Memorial Day starting at 11:30 a.m. from the barn. This is an Impressive sight as many of you may remember from last year. We are looking forward to June 5 when the regular monthly communion service will be held. This is also Pente- Fun Fair Big Success The fun fair held at the Johnsburg school on May 14 was quite successful with a wonderful turnout. Gold -Star members attending were Signe Miller, Isa belle T h o m pso n, Theresa Hansen and Loretta Meyer County President Agnes Whappler and her secretary were also honored guests. Mrs. Whappler honored us with an interesting talk after the dinner*. Those attending Downey on May 5 were Ruth Mrachek, Dorothy Diedrich, Louise Berquist, Richard GolbeCk, Colonel Fox, Vic and Marie Howe. Furnishing then music was Ken Sawdd. They took along four gallons punch, four dozen cupcakes, candy, 130 pocket type books, forty^one magazines and twelve, decks of playing cards for the veterans' use. The unit voted to charter a bus for the juniors to take to the convention on May 28 at Champaign. The bus would not only take the junior delegates and alternates, but also the junior color guard, who will perform at the convention. The. color guard won tenth place in a field of sixteen at a meet at Evergreen Park on Sunday, May 15. If you haven't seen these girls perform youi have really missed something. Mrs- John B. (Daisy) Smith, president of the auxiliary, made, the purchase for the group from Mrs. Grace Goffo, ch ainYian of the Derby committee. The Derby, Which is a phase of the hospital's current fund raising drive, enables groups or individuals to purchase a diaper represen^g their choice of equipment. Names of purchasers will be affixed to each item. Funds from this source will provide much help in equipping the nursery. Besides 14 bassinets, equipment in the Derby includes two incubators, two baby scales, refrigerator, stove, bottle equipment, and a sterilizer.
