Bertha Lee of Orchard Drive collapsed in the yard of her neighbor, Mrs. Sally Hocin, about 1:15 p.m., last Wednesday. Mrs.' Hocin was unaware of the visit until informed by her young son that Mrs. Lee was seeking her. Upon investigation, Mrs. Hocin discovered the inert body of her friend. She rushed into, the house'to f£>ne for help. One of the calls went to the home of our police chief and was able to reach his wife, Betty Murray. Mrs. Murray summoned the Johnsburg rescue squad. Within minutes, the emergency car was entering The village. In the meantime, Mrs. Lee had been revived. The men of the squad checked with Mrs. Lee and f<^nd that she needed no furtwr, assistance, but urged her to have an/examination by a physician. According to the latest report, Mrs. Lee suffered no last' ing effect from the attack. A resounding cheer to these mercy messengers who are on call all hours of the day and night and are equipped to handle any and all emeregencies. Especially during the summer months with its accompanying accidents, we are indeed fortunate to have these trained men and their equipment at our disposal. They are especially deserving of our support for the valuable service which they perform! Deepest Sympathy To Mrs. Evelyn O'Halleran o®3rchard drive on the recent passing of her father, Rudolph Gunther, 53, who died in Lakeland hospital, Elkhorn, Wis., last Sunday. Mr. Gunther had been a resident of Genoa City for the past nine years. Priv ate services for the deceased were held on Wednesday of this week. The polling place will be Muzzy's store in Ringwood and the hours are from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The two candidates are Roy J. Solfisburg on the Republicanballot and B. J. Knight on the Democratic slate. Study the qualifications of the candidates and then make your choice-- but PLEASE cast a ballot. The election is one of extreme importance. Your Chance to Escape! On Sunday, June 5, the members of the McCullom Lake Men's club will relieve you of your tedious chores by preparing and serving your breakfast to you at Berenice and Whitey's. Village Council The recessed meeting of May 9 was adjourned and the regular meeting was opened on Monday, May 23 at 8 p.m. All trustees were present. Road commissioner Don Parent! was commended for the 'Teens Reorganize Our 'teen population turned out in numbers for their first meeting on Monday, May 23, for the purpose of electing officers and scheduling their starlight dancing. Cynthia Tomasello will have the reins of the club in her hand as president. She will be assisted by Greg Burg, Jr., as vice-president. Judy Murray will take the minutes and dispense correspondence while cousin, Susan Murray, handles the finances. Mrs. Earl Murray Jias accepted the role of adult counselor. Meetings will be held first and third Tuesdays beginning June 7. The first dance at the beach is scheduled for Saturday, June 18, with pre-teeners encouraged to try terpsichore from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and the more mature 'teeners will "rock 'n roll" from 8:30'until 11. Ladies of the Lake Met last Thursday night in the beachhouse for a short business session and a social evening. In the absence of the president, Mrs. Louise Hammerstein, the meeting was called? to order by Mrs. Ed Stacknick, vice-president. Last minute arrangements w e r e made for the rummage and bake sale which was held on Saturday. That will be covered next week. What an improvement! was given' by her brand new stepmother-in-law, Mrs. Nada Costa Klapperich, on Sunday, May 22. The wee one is expected in July or August. For the happy occasion, Nada served a tasty, tray of hors d'oeuvres, cake, coffee, chips, 'n other goodies. The guest list included wives of the Klapperich boys, Mrs. Lawrence, Mrs. John, and Mrs>. Bill. Jr.; Lois Worts, maternal grandmother, Mrs. Martin Conway and Kathy, Mrs. Weber; Mrs. Wally Scarbrough of Johnsburg; Roseal O'Donnell and daughter, Catherine; Pat Rosing and Donna Raycraft. Newlyweds Entertain Mr. and Mrs. Bill-Klapperich of Orchard Drive played host and hostess to Bill's sister, Mrs. Rose Weber and her son, of Milwaukee, last Sunday. Busman's Holiday Dispensing spaghetti is "doing what comes naturally" for Dominic Tomasello, so what else to do on a vacation --but head for a "pasta" dinner! He and his ever lovin' Virginia took two weeks from their daily chores and headed south --destination -- Miami Beach. Fla. They had a grand time taking in all the local color, including the dog races. They returned home last Thursday. considerably refreshed by their sojourn. Hospitalized Frank Parkhurst, who is no stranger to the place, returned home from McHenry hospital last week. He had been a patient for a week. He looks and feels much better and here's hoping he stays that way. Welcome Home To Mr. and Mrs. Leon Hanna of Park View who have once more taken up residence after spending five months in Tucson, Ariz. Leon says they had a wonderful time but now he's "rarin' to go"! LOCAL STUDENTS ARE SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS IN STATE Two McHenry students were included among the 23 additional Illinois state scholarship winners announced this week by Gov. William G. Stratton. They are Karen Bailey of 40 Orchard Beach and Lambert Freund of Rt. 1, McHenry. In order to qualify for a state scholarship, an applicant must first rank academically in the top half of his high school graduation class and must then do well on the competitive examination administered on college campuses in the fall of each year. Fair Features Art Workshops Special Projects Chairman Jane Weiss announced this week that there will be a full program of artist workshops again this year at the Country Art Fair. Added this year will be an exhibit of artists' supplies and equipment for every art medium and a history of art from caveman days to the present. The Fair will be held at the McHenry Junior high school June 24, 25 and 26. One of the workshops will feature three popular local artists, Carol Bolger and. Lori Wilhelm of McHenry and Bob Gray of Crystal Lake, painting with a live model for inspiration. Other mysteries revealed at workshops will be plastic laminations, with" Bill Kinsala of McHenry presiding and silkscreening. with Linda Lieberson of McHenry doing the demonstrating. Other artists scheduled to appear at the workshops are Hazel Twell of Richmond, Margarita Hussissian of Barrington. Marilyn Bacon of McHenry and Jack Hobbs of Crystal Lake. The exhibit of artists supplies will contain about three hundred dollars worth of materials including silk screening and mosaic materials as well as the more usual oils, water colors, etc. Hostesses for this exhibit will include Carol Jepsen and Betty Johnson. The art history exhibit was assembled by Mrs. Weiss for those who would like to follow the development of art from early caveman days to the varying techniques of today.
