HIGHWAY DEATHS There were 39 fewer deaths on Illinois' roads and highways over the first five months of the year than for the same period in 1959. According to Gov. Siratton, the total for this period was 579 compared to last year's total of 618, a reduct^i of 6.3 per cent. The month of May showed a reduction of 17 deaths over last year. The death total was 142 against 159 a year ago. This is the lowest total recorded for May since 1948.
