McCullom Lake ANTON HAGELS OBSERVE GOLDEN WEDDING DATE Eve Levesque A June "bride", a lovely evening, a handsome "groom", and a glamorous setting like the McHenry Country club and you have all the ingredients for a fairy story come true. Such was the case on Saturday, June 25, when Mr. and Mrs. Anton Hagel of 524 Maple Hill Drive marked 50 years of love and "togetherness"! Dinner for forty- five guests was given by the Hagels' children, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Blaney and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Hagel. all of Skokie. The lovely "bride" was glowi n g i n g o l d b r o c a d e w i t h matching accessories and wore a corsage of yell w sweetheart roses. Her handsome "groom" was appropriately attired for the occasion and had a gold "arnation in his lapel. Friend of the family, the Rev. Father James Donelon of Chicago, gave, the invocatipn and a toast to the happily wedded couple. The Rev. Lobitz of McHenry was also an honored guest. After the sumptious repast, the guests were treated to a moonlight cruise on the river. Marie Hagel was born in Russ-Poland and came to this country when she was a girl of 19. Tony was born in Hungary and imigrated to the United States at the age of 18. The couple met in Chicago through Marie's brother. Their marriage was blessed with -four children but two of them are now deceased. ' Mr. Hagel earned his livelihood at the Fair Store in Chicago where he is still employed. While the couple resided in Chicago, they owned and operated a grocery store for 19 years. Mr. and Mrs. Hagel purchased property in McCullom Lake in 1929. They built their pre- DR. Proposal Presented To Village Board At the last meeting of the president and' trustees held on Monday, June 27, Herman Mass outlined his proposal to the council. Accompanying him was Gordon Carlson. The proposition is to move Gate 1 about 150 feet, rebuild Gate 2, and exchange a piece of property. Mr. Mass would like to acquire the property adjacent to his barns and trade a parcel (with trees on it) across the blacktop, which would make an excellent park. There were dissenters in the audience who are opposed to the trade. All legal work will be done without cost to the village. The hearing was tabled until the next meeting which'will be held on Monday, July 11.
