Spokesmen for the firm said that a good start had been made on Green street toward providing better parking facilities and urged, a continuing program to further improve conditions. Stanton & Rockwell urged, in their long range program, expansion of the central business district as necessary to meet increased consumer demand. They further urged revision of Jhe city zoning ordinance to provide adequate parking for each business. It was suggested that Waukegan road be widened and improved to the east of Green street. . A recommendation was also made during the evening to extend Rt. 31 directly northward at Front street at some future date until it hits the proposed new federal route which is expected to run only a few miles from McHenry to the north. In addition to the hospital's woman's auxiliary, which runs numerous benefits the year around, other organizations are also planning projects to help raise money for the building fimd. Many groups have already belped through participation in tH?> hospital's Diaper Derby wfiich enables groups and individuals to purchase nursery equipment. Recent purchases of equipment which will be identified by plaques, have been made by the McHenry t American Legion and its auxiliary, McHenry's V.F.W. auxiliary, the women's auxiliary of the Crystal Lake American Legion and the Lilymoor subdivision. in the track meet. Highlight of this event, which starts at 2 o'clock Thursday, is the county mile open to all residents 16 years old or over. Other track events are for the younger folks. Grandstand shows will be held every afternoon and evening throughout the four-day fair. In addition to the meet, Thursday's activities include the tractor pulling contest in the afternoon and the county fair queen coronation and horse show in the evening. On Friday afternoon, the livestock auction is set for 3 o'clock, and that evening 4-H members are in charge with livestock and machinery parades, home economics parade of winners and shane-thefun acts. Horse rac'ng starts at 1 o'clock Saturday, and three hours later the junior horse show is slated. The annual rodeo will be held »t 8:30 n m. PATHOGAN WINS STATE FAIR TRIP FOR 4-H WORK Miss Pat Hogan of Ringwood was one of nine McHenry county 4-H girls selected to participate in the style revue to be held at the Illinois state fair next month. The girls were chosen on the basis of construction and modelling at annual 4-H county achievement days held last Thursday and Friday in Marengo. Pat also was selected to attend the fair as outstanding flower arranger j in the county. TIIELMA O'CONNOR Last rites were held from a Chicago chapel Tuesday morning for Mrs. Th^Sna O'Connor, 46. of Fox street, McHenry, who died unexpectedly Friday, July 22, in Illinois Research hospital. Burial was in Joliet. The deceased was born in Cfiicago Sept. 13, 1913, and resided in McHenry for many years. Survivors include the widower Tom; a daughter, Jean Orhan of Chicago; a son, Christ McMahon; five grandchildren and her mother, Jeanette Westland, of Chicago. LENA FRISBIE Mrs. Lena Frisbie, 83, of Greenwood, mother of Ardin Frisbie, former trades instructor in the McHenry high school, died in St. Therese hospital, Waukegan, Sunday, July 24. Her husband, Frank, preceded her in death. She leaves one son and a daughter. . According to state police, the Anntoicelli car was westbound on Rt. 120 and was attempting to make a left turn when the driver struck the Reed car, which was travelling east. John Spaid, Secretary for camping of the Illinois Synod, are shown above leading the procession into the new church. Rev. Spaid was guest speaker for the memorable occasion. The Sunday. July 17, program was called the "Day of Joyful Reckoning" and was followed by formal dedicatory ceremonies. The service started in the building which was home for the congregation since 1953. A procession from that structure to the new church marked the first worship rite there. Ground was broken last August and the cornerstone laying took place in early winter.
