Pigs Four THE McHENRY PLAINDEALER SO I HEAR ... : The big game in the county ' baseball league is coming up next Sunday when the Johnsburg Tigers come to McHenry to do battle with the Shamrocks. Jaskot, former Shamrock, ...showed real class in going the distance and blanking Richmond last Sunday. The Tigers also have Denny Freund and Bob Nolan in their lineup this year. Both will be back to battle former mates. It should be interesting. We enjoyed hearing Dave Condon, "W a* e" conductor, speak at the ""Marian Central 6ports banquet. Sunday night. He talks like he writes -- and that's good! s Local boys who received honors were. Dan Freund, Vic ; Freund, Ken Stilling, John : Corso, Rex Hester, Gary Vyci- ; tal, Rich Brefeld, Duane Died- " rich, Ron Anderson, Clarence • Adams, John Meyer, Tony " Paluch, Danny Freund, Cam ; Clark and Joe Malpede. Some • were listed in more than one ; sport. * Cheerleaders from McHenry * were Louise Tonyan, Maryellen ; Nye and Jane Nye. Mike Mc- Enery was honored as a team --cianager. SHAMROCKS WIN FROM HARVARD AND RICHMOND Double Win Boosts McHenry To Second Place In League Sunday, the McHenry Shamrocks moved into second place in the McHenry county baseball league by winning a doubleheader from Harvard and Richmond. The Shamrocks record now stands at. 3-1. Th? scores were Shamrocks 12 Harvard 10, and Shamrocks 4 Richmond 3. In each game Gene Freund had to come on in the late inning to save the game for the starting pitcher. The batting star of the Harvard game for the Shamrocks was Gene Freund with three hits and three runs batted in. Jack Schaefer, Mike Collins, and Roger Benson, each chipped in two hits to help the cause. Schaefer, Bujak, and Collins all drcve in two runs in this game. We had five extra base hits this game. A home run by Collins, a triple by Bujak and a double for Freund. Roger Benson had two doubles in this game. The batting stars of the second game were Jack Schaefer and Roger Tinder. Schaefer had two hits and one run batted in, and Tinder had one double, driving in two runs. The Shamrocks had two extra base hits this game, doubles by Freund and Tinder.
