New Grandparents •%he Art Kunkels were grandparents again, when their son Norman's wife gave birth to a song, Craig, on May 24. Grandma and Grandpa babysat for a week to help Norman with his other two youngsters. Honor Night Mrs. Mary Mecko and I Went to Marion Central high lagjt Wednesday evening . to s®? the students receive their honor awards and it sure gives you a wonderful feeling to see so .many receiving them. We both were extra proud because Mary's son, Mike, and my son, Charles, received certificates for perfect attendances I wonder if any of us realize how many boys and girls drop out of high - school without graduating. This is such an imjfcfftant part of their lives and still many do drop out. .That is why it gives most of us a wonderful feeling when we see so many receive medals . ana scholarships for putting their minds to good use. Last Friday Mrs. Mecko, her son, Mike, my son, Fred, and I went to Joliet for honor night at the academy where tyrol goes and to see the graduates and students receive awai-ds. Carol received hers too. Graduates Jerry Ripley will be graduating from McHenry high and Therese Schneider will graduate from Marion Central. The Childers' yard was crowded with Barb's mother, her brother and his new bride, Carol, and her uncle and his family. They had their barbecause outside and all had a wonderful tune. The Jerry Connertys belong to a club "and went to Fox River Grove for a picnic but all the couples were unable to make it. The ones who were able to come beside them were Tom and Diane Simonek and George and Flo Staszak. The Meckos had Mary's sister, Dorothy, her husband, Bob, and little Monica for a few days. Graduation Doings On June 4 Mr. and Mrs. Don Zamistil went to Naperville for the graduation of Don's brother, Glenn, from North Central college. Pat Merhaut's brother George graduated from St. Procopius Academy in Lisle on Sunday. On Wednesday Barbara Childers* cousin, Daniel O'Heath, will graduate from Quigley seminary. Karen Bush will graduate from McHenry high school. At the spring concert she received the Arion musical award for band. The voting was done by the seniors and it was presented by Mr. Buckner. Carol Lima and Kenny Weiss will be graduates of St. John's. Weekend Holiday Thanks to grandma Jerry and Arlene Connerty went to Browns Lake, Wis. for a weekend while grandma baby sat. These grandparents sure are wonderful people. Welcome Visitors The Froehlig house was bursting at the seams for the holidays. Bob's parents were here from Fullerton, Calif., for a surprise visit so the rest of the family made it a reunion at Bob's home. The company included Mr. and Mrs. Harold Froehlig and his family from Elmwood Park, arid Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Froehlig from Lombard. A good time was had by all.' The only thing that spoiled <it was that- it 'ended too fast and everyone had to go to work tiie next morning. Wedding Guest Barbara Childers went to the city to attend the wedding of her girl friend, Arlene Koblus. These two girls were childhood chums from grammer school on through high school. Newlyweds James Garrity was married to a Chicago girl, Ruth Barnard. The young couple is making their home in Chicago. Elmer A. Pichen, 23, whose wife, Nancy, lives in Chicago, recently arrived in Korea and is now serving with the 1st Cavalry division's 15th Aviation company. The 1st is the only U.-S. division presently manning' a front line in Korea. Pichen entered the Army last October. His parents?,. Mr, and Mrs. Elmer F. Pichen, live in Island Lake. The attack cargo ship USS Arneb returned to Norfolk May 12. following a four and one-half month cruise in the Antarctic during Operation Deep Freeze '61. Aboard the ship upon its return was Donald J.
