Ann. 19. who are now residing at 1504 Rosemarie Drive. The Dunns are formerly from Twin Lakes, Wis. We are sorry to see the Sterl i n g B l > t h e f a m i l y m o v i n g away and we hope they will be happy in their home in Spring Grove. PTA Luncheon Several of our ladies attended the P.T.A. luncheon in the J o h n s b u r g s c h o o l , M o n d a y , Oct. 23. The ones present from our village were Marilyn Kinder, Irene May, Lou LaBay, Betty Lehman and Angela Smith. Irene May was one of the ladies who helped serve. All had a delicious lunch and came home with some useful and eatable samples. Attend Wedding The Richard Schneider, Alfred May and Carl Martin families attended a lovely wedding Saturday, Oct. 21. at St. Patrick's church in McHenry when Dennis May took Marge Justen for his wife. A special luncheon was served at Florence May's home where four nuns including Mrs. May's daughter, Sister Florence, from Gary, Ind.,attended. And what could have looked more refreshing than a fountain of champagne which was always flowing. The reception was held at the Wing and Fin in the evening for friends and relatives of the bride and groom. Brownies The Brownies learned to play lemme sticks at their last meeting. At their Nov. 14 meeting all Brownies must be in full uniform for the investiture ceremony. Please call Sylvia Obstfelder if you have any questions. Visitors Mrs. Mary Schmidt and her son and daughter-in-law spent the day visiting Mrs. Anna Schneider and everyone had a wonderful day. The Lehmans had a full house when they and their guests saw movies of their niece's wedding. Right now, go over and mark the date, Dec. 2, on your calendar. That's the date set for the annual Holiday H i 1 I s Christmas party, so don't make any other arrangements that evening. Hank Haufe arid his committee have been busy beavers the past week and a half and have most of the preliminary arrangements made. It will be held at the same place it was held last year, the Wauconda American Legion! hall, the orchestra is all se^t. the tickets have bepn printed, and the committee is trying to contact everyone on tictacts. Keep the date open, invite your, friends a n d d o n ' t m i s s o u t o n t h e f u n at the "Snow Ball Capers." Bake Sale The Holiday Hills Woman's club will hold its monthly meeting next Wednesday evening. Nov. 8, at St. John's Luthieran church in Island Lake. A bake sale will be the feature of the evening and all ladies are invited. This will be a social meeting so bring your friends. ] Happy Birthday A happy birthday to that mighty mite, Tommy Lundelius, who was all of 3 years old on Oct. 25. Tommy celebrated with a party at home for family friends. Another happy birthday to Jimmy MacWilliams who celebrated his sixth birthday on Oct. 28 with a party for ten of his neighborhood pals. A happy birthday to busy Vi Abbink on Nov. 8. I wonder if she'll find time to celebrate her own birthday. Take time out Vi, and have a happy day. Neighborly Notes ' Oct. 21 was a big day for the Weiss family when Irene and her daughter, Diane, were attendants for Irene's sister's wedding. Miss Joyce Sell was united in holy matrimony with Mr. Kenneth BYooks at Si. James church in Haywood. 111. Irene made! a lovely bridesmaid dressed in blue and Diane, a charming flower girl in pink. A first wedding anniversarywas the reason for the celebration at the Abbink home Sunday, Oct.. 22. Vi's sister, Rita, and her husband, Bob, were the guests of honor. The surprise of the day came when Vi brought out the top of their wedding cake which had been frozen for a year without the couple's knowledge. Twentyfive people were on hand for the party. Lilymoor ROARING TWENTIES? THEME FOR DANCE SATURDAY NOV. 4 Shirley Schuerr Visiting Mrs. Crowley drove down to Louisville, Ky., to visit her aged father and her sister. The LaBay family went to Chicago to visit the John Schmw family. Vacationing Mr. Mickelsen spent a few days fishing in Minnesota. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Schultz are spending a week vacationing in Mountain Home, Ark. PISTAKEE TERRACE NEWS Association Meeting Don't forget the association meeting Nov. 6 in the Vyduna basement. We would like to see a better turnout for the meeting so please try to come. Christening On Oct. 29 the newest addition to the Sabaj family was christened Wayne Walter at St. John's church. The godparents were Mrs. Nancy Sabaj and Thomas Korbecki of Chicago. Afterwards many aunts, uncles, and cousins were present to help celebrate the occasion. The Eucalyptus patrol were hostesses for the party and planned the spook house, the games that, followed and the refreshments. Among those attending were Father Time, Aunt Jemima, Little Bo Peep. Raggedy Ann, The Witch, The Devil and many others. Candy, doughnuts and cider rounded off a wonderful party. Hit and Run Victim The Baird home has been full of little visitors the past week and all of them have been calling on the canine membeu of the family. "Spooky" was hit by an automobile on Sunday and spent two days at the animal hospital nursing his injuries. Now that he's back home, the house has been full of well wishers who hope this won't happen again to their pets or their friends. They have asked that we relay this message to all of you -- Please Drive Carefully! The^ average Italian farmer does not live on his land, but in small towns, and from: there he commutes back and forth to his fields daily. This makes the countryside look vacant and deserted. There are only a few days left to hunt up your roaring t w e n t i e s c o s t u m e f o r t h a t roaring Twenties dance, Saturday, Nov. 4. It will be held at Club Lilvmoor at 8 p.m. The dance is sponsored by the Lilymoor association. There will be a prize for the best costume and many other prizes, music and refreshments. It should be a lot of fun to see the different costumes and dances that were done in the twenties. If y o u h a v e n ' t p u r c h a s e d y o u r tickets yet, you may purchase them at the door the night of the dance. Remember that's Saturday, Nov. 4, for the Roaring Twenties dance. CAUTION TO PILOTS Illinois^ pilots have been warned by theMllinois Department of Aeronautics to maintain a close watch on weather conditions when flying during the coming winter months. According to J. E. Wenzel, director of aeronautics, cold fronts sometimes move from 40 to 50 miles an hour during winter months, causing hazardous flying conditions. A cold front will drop ceilings below 1,000 feet in an area 50 to 75 miles wide, Wenzel said. Libmoot. LARGE CROWD ATTENDS SCOUTS MASQUERADE David Heckma&n EV. 5-05S? The masquerade party given by the Lakemoor Scout drill team, was a wonderful success. 200 people were in attendance. Lonny O'Palka, Kenny Ehrhardt, Darb Murphy and Loraine Steadman won first prizes for the best and most original costumes. The team acknowledges the help of all the people for their generous donations, and those who were kind enough ta act as chaperones. Schedule of Practice Time The boys color guard drills on Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturdays at 2:30 to 5 p.m. Girls drill team drills on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.rii. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays at 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. > Shelter Questions Answered For safety reasons; to better protect our children from accidents, the firehouse was chosen to be the permenant bus stop, for the whole village. The doors are kept open so the children can wait inside a heated building until bus time. Being an old timer, "I" should have remembered this fact, however, am happy this matter came up, for the benefit of our more recent residents, who may not have been aware of the facts about the use of the firehouse. Ball A happy fun loving crowd enjoyed the dancing and festivities at the masquerade ball at the firehouse. Many out of town guests enjoyed the music of the exceptionally fine band and the costumes were out of this world. The annual event sponsored by the volunteer fire department, will live in the memories of all those who attended. The fun and frolic and congenial atmosphere were well worth the money. This splendia group of men and the generous local merchants who cooperated so ably to make the affair such a complete success are to be congratulated. TAKE SCIENCE COURSE Car) J. Wagner of Fourth street, McHenry, is among thirty-three secondary school science teachers from the northern Illinois area devoting Saturday mornings for the next five months to an intensive study of the earth, space, the oceans and the earth's atmosphere. They are attending a National Science foundation supported Institute in Earth Sciences at Northern Illinois university. NEW PLANT PEST A relatively new plant pest, the mimdsa webworm, has invaded parts of Illinois and is finding the honey locust tree a favored diet, according to the Illinois Department of Agriculture. The pest made its appearance on mimosa trees in the southern part of the stateQh few years ago. It has advanced rapidly into the central ana northern parts of the state where it has become a destructive pest on the honey locust. William T.
