I 1962, according to Bert- j Bridges, chairman of the Counj ty AgrieulluraF Stabilization i J and Conservation committer. : .This question is one which : i many farmers in MeHenry county have inquired about re- j cently. They consider this a • desirable feature of the pro- . gram. The 1962 wheat stabilization j program provides for the diversion of land from wheat production to conservation uses. Farmers earn payments for maintaining the diverted acreage in approved conservation uses. The program does require that no crop be har\ested from the divei leu acreage during the year and no grazing be permitted after May 1. 1962. Both j the "no harvesting" and "no! grazing" requirements must be j met, it the wheat from the ; farm is to be eligible for price 1 support. Winter wheat producers may : a p p l y f o r p a r t i c i p a t i o n i n t h e , 1962 wheal pro,mam any time ! up to Dec. 1. 1961. An applica- I tion is necessary for each farm J on which the producer expects to take part in the program. Bob Sehopp received first prize for his individual high total of $27.35. Others who won prizes and honorable mention were Dan Paul, Cheryl Witt rock, Sandi Fairchild, Susan Richards and Peggy Castle.
