From the Highlands was Lorraine Lindemann, Vi Schuble and Gert Snell plus th.e usual members from Jchnsburg and McHenry. A new member was added. She is Helen Pepping from McHenry. Around the Highlands Bobby Schlick entered the hospital on Nov. 30 where he underwent surgery for tonsils and adenoids. We wish him a speedy recovery. Kay Sielisch received word her mother is coming along nicely and has returned home and will be under the care of a doctor for some time. Joe and Lorraine Ullo visited their daughter, Linda, at school in Rockford last weekend. Linda will be home for the Christmas holiday on Dec. 21. Happy birthday to Lorraine Brdmann who celebrated on NHon Spankuch has returned home from the hospital, and is back to work. Carol Petherick "and Kay Sielisch spent last Friday in Ingleside making Christmas cookies for the boy's home. They made some fancy pressed cookies and enjoyed every minute of it. Last Tuesday Blanche Haefliger, Anna Cohrs and Mamie O'Neil visited the Woodstock Children's home and the home for the aged. They presented the homes with gifts of clothing and toys. Lorraine Lindemann visited with her sister, Margaret, in Chicago and also called on >ome friends. Ted and Eliner Wroblewski had the honor last Sunday of beins Godparents to their cousin's baby. Kay Sielisch is real proud of her nephew, Michael Kelly, of Grand Rapids Junction, Colo. He has been given an extra role in a moving picture being made in Grand Junction. Jesse and Rita Tempera have sold their home in the Highlands and are gouig to buy a home in Chicago. They will be leaving us sometime in December. Happy birthday to Dick Morley on Dec. 10. I am sorry to hear that Gregg Murray broke his left arm the day after Thanksgiving and had to be hospitalized over night at the McHenry j hospital. I Dan Johnson was confined I to bed for a few days with the J flu and was pretty sick. He recovered in time for the big I event in his life and that of i his wife, Betty. Last Saturday jthey were installed as officers in the Masons at Richmond, and are looking forward to a year filled with many exciting events. I am so pleased to report that good ole Jack Reilly is out of the hospital and recovering nicely at home. Jack was the viclim of a slight case of pneumonia. Belated happy anniversary wishes to two Highlands couples. Congratulations to Dick and Lee Conway on Dec. 2 and many happy returns of the day to Bev and Norb Lewandowski on Dec. 5. The Clarence Shastal family spent last weekend in Chicago. They enjoyed seeing state street in all its Christmas finery plus an added event for Millie when they attended a show and the children enjoyed going horse back riding. Lorraine Lindemann assisted Barbara Sisk in selling tickets for the recent hospital benefit and President Catherine Sielisch is most grateful to Lorraine for the tickets she sold and when anyone is willing to work for their club, they deserve the credit due them. Jane Malek and T e e n a O'Malley drove to Chicago where Teena's little soft. Paul, had a check up for his eyes. Leo Orlowski suffered an eye injury from a piece of tinsel. His eye is ba'dly cut and was treated at the McHenry hospital. He is wearing a patch over the eye. Your reporter has had a biisv week. His fast movements saved him from more severe injury. Grace Reinhardt and two of her fellow employees from the bank spent last Wednesday in Chicago taking in the sights at Hie Loop and a luncheon. LEGION POST GIVES KIDDIES HOLIDAY DINNER Following a custom of many years, the Woodstock chapter of the American Legion, Post 412, donated again this year the Thanksgiving dinner for the Children's home at Woodstock. Representatives of the Legion visited the home in connection with the dinner hour and joined with some of the children in pictures that were taken. This is but one of the several ways in which the residents. businesses and organizai tions of McHenry county share { w i t h t h e home i n i t s w o r k w i t h over forty boys and girls. BOY SCOUTS Troop 1SI After mom filled our stomachs with all that w'onderfiil turkey on Thanksgiving day, Mrs. Hamil, Mrs. Whynot and Mrs. Dorsey took time; the next day to drive our troop to Great Lakes naval training station, where the boys had a fall day watching the sailors graduate and were served a steak dinner.
