She promptly lost her faculty of speech -*-l)Ut not-for long--no mother <$>uld. After her shaky hands transformed the stack of ribbon $)d wrappings into a bundle of lovely pastel layette, Marge expressed her gratitude to La- ^erae Noah, Barbara Jesski, Ruth Dettlow, Rose Felicetti, IJosemary Mortimer, Ann Radtke, Claire Hoettels, Velma Sftevens, Fran Olsen, Claudia <3arn, and hostess Marge Palmer, through a heartfelt, "Oh, 1*is i£ *tfie nicest thing that's happened to me in a long time." \ *It certainly was not a little luncheon, but rather a grand ljjnten spread decorated with Pink and blue streamers, napkins, and miniature cradles in tfte floodlight of sunshine upon thm is buffet. • The peanut gallery, comprisof the Radtke, Olsen and l&lmer pre-schoolers, approved oi the entire operation, but particularly the menu. While getting buttoned into her coat Kim Olsen whispered, "But Mommie, Mfie can't leave yet, we haven't tad our SHOWER!" the "most pins under their average," Hahaha. ,JWho laughed last??? On Ziggy Zoggo CSndy Simmons's cupcake hat for the gingerbread boy was one of the chosen few shown by Nancy on the early morning TV program, Land of Ziggy Zoggo. Don and Delores Gerstein and Ted Bierchen bowled in a surprise tournament in Round Lake on Feb. 29, and lost because they did so well. Misprint? No Terms for the prizes were drawn out of a jar AFTER contestants had bowled. Winners were those with A Model Model (?) Beautiful and charming Vel ma Stevens recently modeled in a style shown at the Woman Ideal Club (a philanthropic organization) in Chicago. She thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience (fittings, rehearsals and the show itself) and being undaunted by an accidental meeting of her toe and a fitting rack, she proceeded to model the other four chic cpstumes scheduled for her, with equal grace and flair. Success could never swell Velma's head, but it did a superior job of swelling her sprained toe: she could hardly get out of bed the next morning. How could a fitting rack be so mean? Deadline In line for a lien? Don't get caught by April Fool. SEHOA dues due the 1st. Be Prepared Water mains will be flushed tomorrow, March 14. If any home loses water, it will be for only a brief period. CominT and Goin' Chris Fail, Emma Johnson, and twelve other mothers and their pre-schoolers paid a visit to the Villa Nursing Home in Pistakee Bay on March 3. Their einging (Chris sang in a duet) and visiting brought such cheer to the patients, but the performance of the little children stole the show. The afternoon was climaxed by a short message given by Pastor Bergerson's wife. A lovely day in the lives of all concerned. LaVerne Noah's sister came from Chicago to spend the weekend of the 7th. Chatter and cards filled the hours for the adults and Aunt Joan's shopping spree for Easter shoes filled the hearts and spruced the feet of the Noah children. Biting Facts Twenty-eight cases of rabies have been reported in McHenry County just recently. The rabies inspo^pr will be in our area soon. Trash Topics We have been informed that garbage cans without covers are in violation of our contract, as well as a litter hazard on windy days. Each home is allowed two (2) covered garbage recepticles for the regular weekly pick up. Uncovered cans will no longer be collected and are subject to fine by the health inspector. To enhance the appearance of each home and the entire area, the improvement Committee asks that all trash recepticles and burners be con- i fined to the rear of the house. Candle Capers Bob and Kelly Kelso and three other friends surprised Johnny Davis on his nineteenth birthday with a party held at the Kelso home. Money- (play), a car (toy), and other sui items comprised his treasury gifts. Shooting pool at a "Freund's" house completed the evening. To celebrate his birthday anniversary, Ted and June Voight took in a show in McHenry on the 29th. Darlene Gerke had Pat and Kasey Anderson, Kathy Gerstein, and Cindy Simmons over for an afternoon party MI the 28th. Games and goodies and giggles filled the hours from 3 to 5. Now Darlene is bathing in bubbles and battling the fly and spider game. Debbie Noah got an assist from Diane, Donna and David in blowing out her candles on the 4th. All was fine except that Daddy was absent because he was called in to work. Anniversary Trip Mary and Frank Mann spent a few days at their son's home in Chicago to celebrate their twenty-second wedding anniversery. Wishing Well Pam DeFrancisco had that leopard look over the weekend. But they were just the three day measels, and she missed only one day of school. David Noah had a bout with the flu last week. Cindy Simmons was more ill about having to miss her first day of school in two years, than she was with the cold that caused her absence. Jean Gerke ifc battling the flu. Mary Mann can't seem to shake a flu bug that keeps recurring. Jack Kelso just recovered from a hand injury requiring needlework. Donald Voight had a small tumor removed from inside his mouth, and much to everyone's surprise, didn't even miss a day of school. Donald's observation of his oral surgery: "The doctor probably got a wood burning set for Christmas and wanted to try it out -- on me." For am anchor is not dead weight. It commands the tremendfaetas force of gravity in a wild, raging sea. It can grip solid land to fight driving wind or swirling current!
