Around The Manor Ed and Irene Betke journeyed into Chicago on Friday as Irene's father, Arnold Ecklund was operated on in St. Francis hospital in Evanston. At this writing he is improving greatly and will be home in a few days. Pat Borcovan drove to Chicago on Wednesday afternoon to visit her sister, Mrs. Sondack, and new baby. She also stopped to visit her mother, Mrs. Downey. Saturday evening, Pat and Elmer attended the Leap Year Dance at the V.F.W. Eastwood Manor was well represented at this affair. Attending were the Don Roths, A1 Bianchi, the Fred Woodburys, Ed Betkes, the Carlsons and Schaeffers. Friday evening Elmer Borcovan and the children journeyed to Twin Lakes, Wis. for supper with his mother, Mrs. Borcovan. Young Bill Coughlin had a third birthday party on Sunday. Special guests at this wonderful occasion were both his grandmothers, Mrs. Garrity, and Mrs. Coughlin, and Danny Mitchell. Also present were his sister and brothers and of course, Mom and Dad. Guests at the John Dalton residence on Thursday were Marie's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mizerka of Cicero. Keith Durkin had a birthday party with five young friends helping him celebrate. Games were played, prizes won, and of course, cup cakes, ice cream, and all the trimmings were served. A good time was had by all. The Elwyn Eternicks had supper and spent Saturday evening visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Pat Marrone of Crystal Lake. The Robert French family had a wonderful three week vacation to Clearwarter, Fla., to visit the Senior Frenches. They also visited the Everglades while there. Louise Griffeth's father, Mr. Siadek, of McHenry, is in Mc- Henry hospital with a slight stroke. Eleanor and Walt Kuck went bowling on Saturday evening with their boat club in Round Lake. Lucky Eleanor won a prize, even though it was for bowling below average. On Sunday they visited Eleanor's brother, Art Weyde, and family of Lake Zurich. Sunday visitors at our home were my sister, Mrs. Ward, and sons, Ron and Wayne, of Maywood and my mother, Mrs. Rick of Elmhurst. Get Well Wishes To Kathy Barry who has been down with the mumps. Boy Is Safe Young nine year old ROnald Buss had a very close call Tuesday, March 3. He and a few friends went ice fishing on the Lake here. All of a sudden the ice gave away and Ronald fell into the lake. Quick thinking Ronald got himself back onto the ice. Firemen from Companies 1 and 3 were called in to bring the boy back to safety.
