On Friday, April 3, there will be a special meeting at 3:30 at Mrs. Johnson's house to practice a song for the Junior Rally. On Saturday, April 11, from 1:30 to 4:30 at the Woodstock high school they are holding a Junior Scout Rally. On Sunday, April 10, each troop will have a table to show what they have done. This year at the neighborhood fair, to be held at the McHenry high school. Woman's Club Meets Tonight ? Tonight there will be election Of officers at our Woman's iClub meeting so let's have a re&lbig turn-out. Wilma Crane *htis also got something planned for after the meeting so come 'out and join the fun. it Girl Scouts . Because the Girl Scout Troop is getting larger it has liioved its meetings from Mrs. Johnson's house to the Community house on Mondays after school. Another new girl, Leah Rode, joined last week. Easter' baskets were made out of milk cartons and paper. Some of the girls colored Troop 459 News Our troop started off the meeting with Indian Dance practice. The solo dances were the only dances practiced. Our Indian dance team has been asked to dance for a court of honor for another troop this month as well as for the Johnsburg Cub Scout Pack. Colors were presented by the Hawk's patrol, our Scout oath and laws were said. Our spring camporee was talked about, it is to be held May 1, 2 and 3. The theme of the Camporee is "Strengthen America's Heritage," our dance team will also dance at the Camporee. Patrol projects will be based on all requirements. The Scouts will have to hike % mile to the camp site, each carrying his own personal gear. First aid was practiced by the troop as our troop is to take part in the first aid meet to be held tomorrow night, April 3. Patrol projects are still beTng worked on at patrol meetings. The Hawks then retired colors and as each Scout left he was given a kite from Mr. Eckhart. Please, remember our rummage sale for the weekend of April 10, 11 and 12. Deepest Sympathy The many friends of Dolores Rogers were deeply saddened on Monday morning to hear .that her sister, Jennie Rogers, had expired. Jennie leaves seven children ranging from 4 to 16 besides her husband. Mrs. Rogers had been very ill for quite a lengthy time. Strolling Through The Park All the parents of Cub Scouts were most pleased by the very clever tulip trees made by Den 5 with Aggie Prazak as Den mother. She also had an Easter egg hunt for her Cubbers. Den 2 with Shirley Koch as den mother gave their parents beautifully decorated eggs they had made. Gail and Joe Parisi and their three sons spent Easter Sunday with Joe's parents. The occasion was a double celebration, Judy Lynn Slonina reached age 6 on March 31st. Heard there was everything from soup to nuts and everyone had a terrific meal and day. The Wagners, Jerry, Lloyd, Sharon, Tommy and David, spent Easter with the Lawrence Harrisons in Meadowdale. Mrs. Harrison is Jerry's sister. This was a family dinner attended by Jerry's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harbaugh of Lombard, and the Umbarger family from Oakhurst. After dinner the Wagners went to Villa Park to visit with Lloyd's folks and then went back to Meadowdale for supper. The Daurios, Mary, Jim, Mick, Lynne, Jimmy and Tommy, had the Drumls as guests on Easter eve. Had a very pleasant evening. Dottie and Irv Becker and their children had Irv's sister, Pat, and her husband and their children as dinner guests for Easter. Bette, Bill, Danny, Ronnie and Cindy Kamp spend Easter having dinner with Bill's folks in Crystal Lake. Bill's folks will be leaving for Florida in June to live, so it was the family's last holiday dinner for quite a while. Kamps then ventured out to Wonder Lake to visit with Bette's folks. They arrived just as we were leaving for our 5 p.m. family dinner at my sister's, Blanche, in Evanston. The occasion was not only for Easter but a family gathering of relatives all wishing our number 1 son the very best as he enters the Army Air Corps today. It was a very wonderful ten days of having our number 1 son home, it's a real shame that he couldn't have brought back some of the California heat as he wasn't used to this so called Spring weather we've had lately. He returned to California on Tuesday and leaves from there for Texas and his basic training. The time just wasn't long enough for his stay at home and we'll be waiting for his first leave. Son, may your every wish become reality and may the Good Lord watch overhand protect you. We'll ihis¥ you. Jo and Paul Rizzo and girls went to Grandmma Rizzo's for a delicious Easter dinner. Jessie Matthews' folks, Mr. and Mrs. Reid, and her sister, Kathy, and husband, Bob Beck, spent Easter Sunday at the Matthews home having a delicious ham dinner with all the trimmings. At church Sunday morning, Jessie, Carol and Nancy were all showing off the pretty corsages bought by father, Bob. Bob and Vivian Steele celebrated their sixth year of wedded bliss on Sunday, March 29. They celebrated on Saturday by going out to dinner and dancing. Vivian's sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. George Halada, joined them for their evening of fun. Mary and Joseph Lanz spent Easter in Chicago with their son, Donald, and his wife, Mary Lanz, and their 1 year old son, Brian. The Johnson family spent Easter Sunday at John's folks for ham dinner. Later they met Maureen's mother and she took them all out for a chocolate sundae. The Ray Rode family had Mr. and Mrs. James Barthel, Mr. and Mrs. James Rode as Easter dinner guests. Donna and Ray's annual Easter egg hunt had to be held in the basement of their home because of our so called spring weather. x Matt Grizely and his youngsters ventured into Chicago to spend Easter with his parents. That terrific group of ladies who love their card games met at the home of Ivy Lezak last week and the number one spot was awarded to Ann Leigh with Ruth McMahon NARUSIS foe SIMiSAITNMr coming in second. These ladies also enjoyed the hospitality of Ivy, Ann Herzog, Lucille Dietz, Ruth Chadwick, Delia Julian and Joyce Braun. The Kozickis spent Easter on the south side of Chicago with Grandma Kozicki. Bev Wickenkamp's sister, Karen, her brother-in-law, Earl, and nephew, Billy, had Easter dinner with Bev, Jim and their children. The Rokala family call Minnesota -their home. The Kraskiewicz family had a house full for EaSter. Their daughter, son-in-law and five children, The Lezaks and Ann Herzog all enjoyed Helen's wonderful cooking. Petey, Jack and the Oakford children had Petey's mother, Mrs. Grondy, her sister, Pat, and niece, Marilyn McCollough, and her brother, Duke, and his wife, Connie, as their guests on Easter. Grandma Grondy remaind for a few days visit. Ann Herzog was most pleased to have received phone calls from all her family in St. Louis wishing her a happy Easter. Alma and Charles Siegmund had the Earl Foresters as guests on Easter. Mrs. Forester is their daughter, Cecilia. The Siegmunds' four grandchildren, Bud, Sissie, Pat and Beth, also enjoyed the day with grandma and grandpa. Lyda and Bill Radisch went to Carpentersville to spend Easter with their oldest daughter, Shirley Lexow. The gathering was a double event as number one grandson Payl celebrated his sixteenth birthday. Heard they had a terrific day. The Humanns travelled to Chicago on Easter to visit with both sides of the family. They visited with grandma and grandpa Humann and had dinner with Carol's mother, Mrs. Neuenfeldt. Holiday Hills FOREIGN EXCHANGE STUDENT SPEAKS AT WOMAN'S CLUB Iaez Young The next Woman's Club itfeeting should provide a very different and most interesting evening for the ladies. Our speaker for the evening will be a young lady who has traveled many miles for her years. She comes to us from Barabades, West Indies. Vivenne Yearwood is a foreign exchange student who at present is attending Crystal Lake high school. Public speaking is not new to Vivenne, she has attended meetings of many local organizations and proved herself quite an able speaker. It should be fun to see and hear how she compares with our young high school students here, in her interests, ideas, likes and dislikes. Be sure to attend the next meeting to be held at the home of Phyl Harper, at 2507 S. Driftwood, on Wednesday evening, April 11 at 8 p.m. Cub Scout Activities The Cub Scouts will hold a roller skating party this Saturday, April 4. Each boy must have written permission from his parents when he meet with the group at the Cortnell home at 12:45 p.m. They will skate from 1:30 til 4.
