That Monday was a windy day is no news to any of us. However outside of garbage cans in the neighbors' lawn and shingles flapping in the breeze most of us were unaffected by the big blow. Jerry Dicks was not so fortunate Having trouble starting her car during the day Jerry left it parked in the driveway facing east. Sometime after lunch an extra strong gust came along from the west and Jerry found her car clear across the road against a telephone post. Extensive damage was done to the bumper, grill, hood and fender. The only explanation Wad to be the wind but it still sounds a little wierd. Jeffrey J. arrived weighing 10 lbs. 12 ozs. Anxiously awaiting his arrival is his sister, GiG^, three years old. GiGi tells me she will be very busy now, helping to feed her baby brother, and we are so pleased to have a little boy in the neighborhood. Spotty Eunice Heise has a new nickname -- one that fits her very well now that she is covered with spots. Hundreds of small red spots, better known as measles. Get well quick, Spotty!! Bairds Beam With Pride Once again Jean and Ray Baird are beaming with pride about Jean's nephew and Godchild, Joseph Bagdonas. Their pride certainly is justified when you learn the accomplishments of this outstanding young man. Joseph is a senior, on the honor roll of St. Ignatius high school. By working as a caddy at a country club for 5 years he qualified for and won the Chick Evans scholarship which is a full four year scholarship. He has chosen as the school he will attend, Marquette University and has been accepted there. He recently won second place in an . essay contest winning $250, which he will use for expenses while away at school. His subject for the essay was "Federal Aid to Education." Still another reason for their pride is that he has be£n chosen to appear on the TV program Rebuttal for the second time. He will appear on the program on May 2 at 2:30 p.m., debating the Constitutional Ammendments. Joseph is the oldest of six children of Jean's sister, Pat, and brother-in-law,Joseph Bagdonas, Our best wshes to this fine young man who proves that there are, bright intelligent and ambitious teenagers; and that our country will some clay be run very well by a generation we don't always have faith in. Wind Damage The high winds that developed in the area on Monday, April 13, caused considerable damage to our home. At 10:30 a.m., while ironing downstairs, I heard a frightful noise that s o u n d e d l i k e my p i c t u r e window had blown in, but found my chimney and roof, from the top level of the house, lying on the patio. I am told that many homes suffered damage during the storm, with shingles, awnings and doors being torn loose. I'm not sure about anyone else, but my theme song for a few days was "Don't let the rain come in." - * Greetings . Happy anniversary, to Renee and Larry Jende who will celebrate their anniversary this Saturday, April 25. Birthday geetings to pretty little Candy Musolf who will be 2 years okl on April 23 and last but not least, a very happy birthday to our own dear April who will be 14 years old on April 26. POPULAR CARS * Despite the claims of any one manufacturer, the most popular models of cars on the road today are those driven by thoughtful, courteous motorists. So says the Institute for Safer Living. INSURANCE ADJUSTMENTS As a result of automobile insurance rate, adjustments announced last week by the Illinois Department of Insurance, Illinois motorists will receive an over-all reduction in private passenger liability premiums of •$559,230. There will be a small over-all increase in private passenger physical damage insurance premiums of $27,235. The rate adjustments approved by the Department of Insurance apply to automobile insurers who are affiliated with the National Bureau of Casualty Underwriters and the National Automobile Underwriters association. These insurance companies account for about 21.5 per cent of Illinois private passenger auto liability insurance business and about 32 per cent of the physical damage coverage premiums on private passenger autos. The department noted that the over-all figures represent statewide averages and that actual rates will vary according to loss experience in each geographic area. ' YES! ABJL THE CHJyR(5H The Church is the greatest factor cm earth for the building of character and good citizenship. It iB a storehouse of spiritual values. Without a strong church, neither democracy nor civilization can survive. There are four sound reasons why every person should attend services regularly and support the church. They are: (1) For his own sake. (2) For his children's sake. (3) For the sake of his community and nation. (4) For the aake of the church itself, which needs his moral and material support. Plan to go to church regularly and read your Bible daily. Every gardener knows human ingenuity cannot be substituted for the miracle of growth. God's secret is God's! But he knows, too, that wild growth means wilderness. Only cultivation makes a garden. So he works with God. And the result is beauty, fruitfulness, abundance. What the man with the green thumb practices in his back yard, the Church inspires across the whole expanse of human effort ... the cultivation of souls ... the realization of our spiritual potential. Working with God! What do YOU think life is meant to be? Wilderness? Or the Garden of God? Join us at Church next Sunday I Copyright 1964, Keiater Advertising Service, Inc., Straabufg, Va.
