A total of $7,162 or 48 percent of the $15,000 goal, has been reached. Public support is still needed, to complete the fund drive and; make it a complete success. The total budget of the Lake Region YMCA will be $24,250. It is anticipated that $9,250 will be recovered from participating memberships and program fees, while the remainder of $15,000 will be raised by solicitation from industry and individual citizens. It must be stressed, however, that no one will be refused participation in YMCA activities because of a lack of funds. On Tuesday evening, April 28, at 7:30 p.m., the Lake Region YMCA will present a program on summer camping programs for boys, girls and families in the Central school auditorium, Crystal Lake. Movies of various YMCA summer camps will be shown and speakers describing these camps will be presented. Registration for t hese programs will be taken at the meeting. Anyone desiring further information or wishing to make a donation, contact Lake Region YMCA, 65 Williams street, P.O. Box 337, Crystal Lake, or telephone 459-4455. TIME CHANGE Daylight Savings Time will, once again, cause temporary confusion throughout the state. It always does. The time change will occur at 2 a.m. Sunday, ""April 26. Sensible poisons will change their clocks nnd watches on Saturday nk;ht before retiring. The confused ones will be, as usual, an hour late on Sunday. It has been rumored that there are a few happy-go-lucky souls who will be late for work on Monday morning. FOREIGN EXCHANGE STUDENTS COMPARE WAYS OF LIVING It has become an annual custom for the McHenry Classr room Teachers association to honor members of the local Future Teachers at a spring tea. April is the month designated by the National Education Association to recognize the Future Teacher movement in the nation. This year the CTA program chairmen, Mrs. Mary Obenauf and Miss Lois Linden, have planned a different type of program to interest their young guests. Miss Jeanine Manhay of Belgium and Miss Vivienne Yearwood of Barbados will contrast life in America with that of their home countries. These young people are foreign exchange students attending high school in Cary and Crystal Lake this year. The tea^will be held at the Edgebrdok school on April 27 at 3:30. Mrs<^ Elsie Hoppe heads the committee of Edgebrook teachers who will act as hostesses for the occasion. All FTA and CTA members are urged to attend. Retired members of the faculty of District 15 are also invited to enjoy this special meeting. Two hundred thirty-eight Illinois high schools sponsor FTA groups, the purpose of.which is to interest young people in becoming teachers and to help them prepare for such a career. McHenry is happy to have such a group. Mrs. Lillian Bolger serves as faculty sponsor for the students aspiring to be teachers.
