The time is 8 p.m. Get together a group of friends or neighbors and enjoy the evening playing cards. There will be refreshments served. As before, it will be held at the Ringwood grade school. The public is invited. The more the merrier. Sr. Hi M.Y.F. Report On Sunday, April 26, the Sr. Hi M.Y.F. went to the Elgin District Spring Rally in Crystal Lake. The lally began at 2 p.m. A play entitled "Christ and The Concrete City" was presented by the Wesley Players, Wesley Foundation, Northern Illinois University. The play pointed out how we did and do try too hard to keep up with the Joneses. The play also may have suggested that if the Crucifietion would aguin take place now, we would all flock to it as if it were u great show. Election and installation of district officers took place after supper. Sue Fossum is the citizenship leader for the district. Probably the highlight of the evening was the Worship Service "Man Speaks To Man Of Religion Through Folk Music '. The Prophets, a musical group for Northern, expressed themselves; spiritually through music. The group sang and played old spirituals and religious folk music. The rally was over 8:30 p.m. Next Sunday, installation of our local officers will take place at the church. Linda Low, reporter. Ringwood Hanehall Team Winn I have asked Bob Brennan and Candy Fossum to write up the sporting news for me about their soft ball games played last Thursday afternoon between Ringwood youngsters and Channel Lake 'grade school. Here for you, are the write-ups. Bobby 'Hrennan reports: On Thursday, April 23 the Ringwood grade school boys baseball team beat the Channel Lake grade school "A" team by a score of 4 to 'i. The Ringwood team, composed of boys from the fifth through eighth grades, got off to a fast start by scoring in the bottom half of the first inning, in the Channel Lake half of the seventh, and in the last inning, they scored one run and left men on second and third. The team was made up of Larry .Oonk from the 5th, Terry and Larry Harvey, Lenny Ackerman, Krnie Malsch, and Jimmie Rhoades from the sixth; Kevin Bauer, Bob Klapperich, Bob White a'nd Bob Brennan from the seventh; and Gordon Bauer from eighth. A purple heart should be given to the umpire, Mr. Smejkal, who was "wounded" several times by foul balls. The next game will be at Channel Lake on May 7. The Girls Teftm Wins " In A Shut-Out April 23 proved to be a very exciting day for the Ringwood Girls' baseball team. At 2:55 p.m. every pupil was watelling the clock and not paying any attention to the music class. 3 o'clock came and Channel Lake's teams arrived. Most players were taller than our girls. The game started and at the bottom of the first, Ringwood was leading 15 to 0. An average of 10 runs was scored each inning by our team. The fifth inning came and the score stood approximately 40 toO. If Channel Lake didn't get a run in this inning, they'd forfeit. 6, 7 or 8 more runs came in, no one is just certain just how many it was, and Ringwood led by a score of either 46, 47 or 48 to 00000, Victorious. We won a SHUT-OUT!!?! Another game will be playfed against the same team on May 7. Wish us luck!! Candy Fossum, Girls' sports editor. Thank you so much, Bobby and Candy for the assistance in the sports coverage. I hope I can call on you again. Parents; you are more than welcome to attend these games aad" help cheer our locals on. They will bt npeding drivers for the games on the 7th, so if you are interested, just tell one of the- youngsters or call the school. Spectators can go along too. Citizens Of The Month There is a bulletin board in the hall of the school for the citizens of the month, for all to see. They are picked by the students' votes, but must be approved by the leachers. The voting is based on scholastic merits and attitudes as well as other i>oints. Winners for the period were: Andy Fossum, Susan Gelvin, Pam O'Halleron and Robert Preston from the first and second grades. From the third and fourth, Helen Malsch, Patty Brennan, David Betts and Benny Beaman. Robin Fossum, Mary Oonk, Pam Low and Delores Betts from the fifth and sixth. And from the seventh and eighth, Bob Klapperich, Katie Holcomb and Candy Fossum. Congratulations are in order for these citizens from Ringwood. Keep up the good work. HORNSBY'S MNflllf i! Many of the youngsters get caught in it at one time or another for reasons such as, chewing gum during school, talking out loud, running in the halls, fighting to name a few. Maybe I should explain that it's not really a live spiders' web. Mr.'Smejkal'has made it himself. It has a place right in the hall on the bulletin board for all to see. The spider (nonliving) is in the center of his principal sun web, with the following pictures anifl names "caught in the spiders web": David Betts, Jim Rhoades, Lenny Ackerman, Larry Harvey, Gordon Bauer and Dorothy Aissen.
