!F»gi UgHte-a THE McHENHY PUSINDEALEH Thursday. April 30. 1964 Holiday Hills ROADS IN NEED OF REPAIR; URGE DUES PAYMENTS Inez Young With winter snows and ice behind us and the show plowing over for another year, we now face the annual task of putting our roads back in condition. By the end of the spring thaw, hardly a road remains that does not need attention. Plans for road repair will transpire in the near future. You do not need to do more than turn into the subdivision to know that the roads need attention. This is a costly operation and the Holiday Hills Property Owners Association is the only organization that takes care of our roads. If you have not paid your association dues for this year, your local board man will be around soon. Please bring your dues up to date. It really is much less expensive than replacing springs for your car or new tires. THANK YOU' Harry Postal Working On 'Mickey One' Harry Postal, known to most of us as the president of the HHPOA, has for the past several months been assigned to a very interesting job. Per haps many of you have read about the movie 'Mickey One' in the Chicago papers. This is the first complete movie to be filmed in Chicago by a major studio since the days of Gloria Swanson and Mary Pickford. Warren Beatty plays the lead role, with Hurd Hatfiled and Franchot Tone also in the cast. Some of the scene are being filmed in the closed Chez Paree night club. It will be investing to see the movie and know that Harry was the still production photographer on it. Harry's job has, in the past, had him working for Bing Crosby on the Hemmingway story 'Adventures of a Young Man'. Horticulturist Speaks At Garden Club Mrs. Emil Walker, proved to be a most interesting speaker at the last meeting of the Holiday Hills Garden Club. She answered many questions put to her by the women, and among other things, told of the tragic results of using weed killers and insecticides. Mrs Ellen Erickson was the hostess for the evening, with Lorraine Bemis, Jimmie Justes, Joyce Karafa, Gerry Brede, Phyl Harper, Charis Ary, Gerry Postal and Inez Young in attendance. ning and work done by Midge and Don Teuber with the help of- Vi and Bill Abbink they senl the group 011 a round ol trips between McHenry ami Crystal Lake and fin-illy returning to Midge and Don's for coffee and cake a:vl a disousssion of all the th:n.;> l!u\\ did not think of. It is a storehouse of spiritual values. Without a strong church, neither democracy nor civilization can survive. There are four sound reasons why every person should attend services regularly and support the church. They are: (1) For his own sake. (2) For his children's sake. (3) For the sake of his community and nation. (4) For the sake of the church itself, which needs his moral and material support. Plan to go to church regularly and read your Bible daily. "Don't forget Tippy's treat V* Even if we're a bit late leaving for church, Susan and Mark must take their paper bag of surprises for Tippy the squirrel. Tippy lives in the park beside the church, and he's one of many happy, heart-warming things that our family looks forward to on Sundays. We are rearing our children in the Christian faith because we know from our own experience how much it means to young people growing up. Without a right sense of values, youngsters are so likely to get into trouble. Already Susan and Mark are learning to trust in the loving protection of God, and to turn to Him with their little problems. Through the stories of Jesus they are beginning to understand what it means to follow Him. We pray that this childhood pattern will strengthen and form a steadfast foundation for the whole of their lives. No parents could ask for more.
