Sewing Guild Honors Members The Pink Lady Sewing Guild of the Woman's Auxiliary to McHenry hospital met on June 11 at the McHenry Country club. Those present were Celia Blake, Lilah Jordan, Marian Carlson, Margaret Bolin, Helene Pepping, Theresa Kelly, Lillian Cox, Marge Klingberg, Dorothy Olson, Esther Knapp, Mildred Kennedy, Tillie Ahrens, Nell Bergener, Marge Moreth, Lorraine Lindemann and Gert Snell. Guests present were Marion Ritter, Isa Braenne, Mae Siadek, Viola Schuble, Eva Bacon and Mrs. Sorter from San Francisco, Calif., who is the mother-in-law of Theresa Kelly. During the meeting two members were honored, Gert Snell who is observing her golden wedding anniversary and Lorraine Lindemann who is moving to Chicago. Each lady was presented with a gift. The group adjourned to the home of Betty Strout in Crystal Lake where a business meeting was held. Following the playing of games for which prizes were awarded Mrs Strout served a delicious dessert. All present enjoyed the delightful afternoon. Family Reunion At Latimer Home A family reunion was held Saturday, June 13, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Latimer in West Shore Beach. The day was spent in visiting, singing hill-billy songs and enjoying a barbecue dinner. HOPP - POSTHUMA VOWS EXCHANGED^ IN CITY CHURCH St. Patrick's Catholic church was the setting for a beautiful wedding on Saturday, June 13, which united in marriage Miss Georgiann Posthuma, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Posthuma of 5314 W. West Shore drive, McHenry, and Mr. Russell Hopp, son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Hopp' of 3109 River Park drive, McHenry. The bride was married on her twentieth birthday anniversary. Rev. Fr. Eugene Parker officiated at the 11 o'clock nuptial rite, for which Earl Conway was soloist, singing "On This Day O Beautiful Mother" and "Ave Maria". The altars were decorated with bouquets of white flowers. Blonde Miss Posthuma was lovely in a chantilly lace dress, styled with long sleeves and sabrina neckline. Pearls were featured on the bodice, and the floor length skirt was of lace. A three-tiered silk illusion bouffant veil fell from a chantilly lace, queen's crown covered with pearls and aurora borealis crystals. She carried a cascade bouquet of white roses and lilies of the valley and wore as her only jewelry a diamond pendant, a gift of the bridegroom. Acting as maid of honor was Miss Joanne Genske of Chicago and bridesmaids were Mrs. Sandra Young of Janesville, Wis., Miss Carol Hahn of Chicago and Mrs. Suzanne Homo of McHenry. The junior bridesmaid was Linda Hopp of Ringwood, niece of the groom. All were attired in pink, floor length bell skirt dresses, with pink underskirts. Pink eyelet covered fitted bodices, which had three - quarter -sleeves. Roses held streamers in place in the back. Their headpieces were of roses with tiered veil. They carried pink and white carnations and wore pearl necklaces, gifts from the bride. Cathy Lauer of McHenry, a niece of the bride, was the charming flower girl. She wore a floor length dress of pink, with white eyelet cummerbund held in place with a rose. The dress had puffed sleeves and round neckline. Her pearl crown held in place a veil. Cathy carried a basket of flowers. Mrs. Posthuma selected a turquoise-colored crepe sheath dress with matching jacket and Extend Deadline For County Fair Queen Entries To July 2 A short extension of the deadline fOr the Miss McHenry County, 1964 contest to 5 p.m. July 2 and appointment of a chairman for the colorful event are among developments in *his major McHenry County Fair attraction. The deadline has been extended from June 30 to July 2 in order to coordinate various end-of-the month events. The McHenry County Dairy Promotion council plans its tenth anniversary banquet June 30, and to encourage local communities to avoid conflict, the fair queen contest deadline was extended. Plans for the first meeting of all Miss McHenry County candidates at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 5, stand, Miss Dorothy Olbrich, chairman/ for this 1964 event, reported today. Miss Olbrich, a beauty queen in her own. right, takes over the chairmanship from another favorite, Miss Patricia Hogan, who now is an airline stewardess. Miss Olbrich has a farm background of 4-H and dairying. She was the 1959 Illinois Dairy Princess for the American Dairy Association of Illinois. She was runner-up in the McHenry county competition in 1958 and won the county Dairy Princess title in 1959 to qualify for the state contest. Many exciting prizes await the winner of the Miss McHenry County contest. The winner will vie in the Miss Illinois Fair contest in January, 1965. She also will be a guest of the McHenry County Fair association at this summer's Illinois state fair. , A $100 wardrobe awaits her also, grand prize for the winner. Additional wardrobe prizes of $60 for second place and $40 for third place also have been arranged by the committee. Preliminary judging will take place July 13 at Martinetti's restaurant. The Fair association hosts members of the press at this annual dinner to report on highlights of the upcoming fair, to offer thanks for the $xfcellent coverage provided after year, and to hold tlie preliminary competition so judges have a better opportunity to evaluate the various candidates. Miss Olbrich is contacting past sponsors. She also seeks a group or business to sponsor candidates in such communities as Richmond, Johnsburg, Union and Ringwood. St. Peters To Hold! Luncheon, Card Party There will be a luncheon and card party at St. Peter's hall in Spring Grove at noon on June 23 sponsored by the Christian Mothers society. The menu will consist of baked ham, po tato salad, jello, relishes, rolls, cake and coffee. Following a two-week honeymoon trip in Oregon and other western states, the newlyweds will make their home at 3801 W. John street. The young couple graduated from McHenry high school and the bridegroom also attended Elgin Business college. She is employed at the local Ben Franklin store and he is an employee of Durawax company. Out of town guests included the grandparents from Florida, the sister of the bride from Tulsa, Okla., and other relatives from Springfield and from California. P Beverly Spohr Wed Saturday ? • - - - Miss Beverly Ann Spohr became the bride of Mr. Frank E. Studnick in one of the season's loveliest weddings, performed last Saturday, June 13, in St. Mary's Catholic church. Rev. Fr. Eugene Baumhofer officiated at the 11:30 o'clock Mass. Soloist for the occasion was Dale Prest of North Lake, a friend of the groom! Bouquets decorated the altar, and ribbons marked, the front pews of the church. Miss Spohr is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond F. Spohr of Pistakee Bay and Mr. Studnick is the son pf Mr. and Mrs. Frank Studnick of Cicero. The bride approached the altar, radiant in a silk organza dress with lace and seed pearl applique at the scoop neck and scattered throughout the sldrt. A long train was attached at the back of the neckline with a bow and trailed behind the dress, with applique doton the complete middle of the train. She wore a crown of matchmg applique, to which was attached a four-tiered Freneh illusion, bouffant veil. Miss Sandra Spohr, sister of the bride, acted as matron of honor. Her bridesmaids were Charmaine Mueller of Skokie, Sandra Alford of Elgin, former roommate of the bride at Illinois State; Mrs. T. James Oettel of Staunton, 111., and Mrs. Geoffrey Moss of DeKalb. All were attired similarly in gowns of turquoise colored crepe, empire style floor length sheath gowns, styled with short sleeves, detachable floating panels and banded at the waist with satin, they featured bows in back and streamers. The young women had matching clusters of flowered crowns sprinkled with iridescent sequins and two-tier, bouffant veils. William Studnick of Cicero, brother of the groom, served as best man and groomsmen were Stephen Yurek, William Van* derberg and Walter Wlodek of .Gicero and Raymond Spohr, Jr., of Pistakee Bay, brother of the bride. Mrs. Spohr selected for her daughter's wedding a pink McHENBY CHURCH , REPRESENTED AT I NATIONAL MEETING Tta national meeting of United Presbyterian Women, a triennial gathering of United Presbyterian women from all over America And other parts of the world, will be held on the campus of Purdue university, Lafayette, Ind. One of some 5,000 delegates from the entire denomination and twenty-five delegates from Freeport Presbytery will be Mrs. Manford E. Peck, III, representing Faith Presbyterian church. This meeting, to be held the week of June 22 to 27, will bring together women from all walks of life and races and many outstanding leaders of the church to seek a better understanding of their Christian faith and calling. The general theme of the meeting is "Free to Be What You Are", and the Bible study for the week will be based on Paul's Letter to the Colossian church. Mrs. Peck of 1916 N. Orchard Beach drive, McHenry, is active in the Women's Society of Faith church and is chairman of its fellowship committee. Years RUMMAGE SALE There will be a rummage sale on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, June 18, 19 and 20, sponsored by the. McHenry County Guiding Star Shrine, Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem. The sale will be held in a presently vacant store across from the Miller theatre in Woodstock. All proceeds will be used for charity. Hours for the sale are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday. AMONG THE SICK Mrs. Mary Mann was a surgical patient at McHenry hospital. She has returned home and has her grandchildren from Chicago with her. crepe sheath dress, with which she wore matching accessories. The groom's mother chose a blue satin sheath with white lace overlay and blue accessories. Both had orchid corsages. A reception followed the ceremony at the McHenry Country club for 200 guests. The couple left later on a short honeymoon trip, and upon their return will reside in Carpentersville. MISS TIFFANY WILL ATTEND FHA CONFERENCE The Illinois Association of the Future Homemakers of America will hold their nineteenth state leadership conference June 18 through June 20 at Illinois State University at Normal, 111. Christine Tiffany, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur R. Tiffany, McHenry, has been selected by the McHenry chapter of the Future Homemakers of America as a delegate to this conference. Christine, a senior in the McHenry high school, holds the office of president in her FHA chapter, and is secretarytreasurer for District 21. Her special responsibility at the 1964 conference will include acting as hostess for the conferences Future Homemakers of America is a national organization of students studying home economics in junior and senior high schools. In their chapter activities, they work toward the over-all goal of helping individuals improve personal, fam ily, and community living. The Illinois association has a membership of 30,085 members in 580 schools. Approximately 600 - OUTDOOR FAIR When the Barrington outdoor art fair is held Sunday, June 21, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Dorothy Pytko of 3220 W. Fairway drive, McHenry, will be among the exhibitors. There is free admission to this non-profit community activity sponsored by the Barrington Woman's club. HOLY NAME COMMUNION The Holy Name society of St. Mary's Catholic church will hold its eighteenth annual father and son Communion breakfast at the Legion home next Sunday, June 21, following the 8 o'clock Mass. delegates will attend the conference. The three-day conference is planned and carried out by the teen-agers. The members of the Illinois association have selected "Future Homemakers Promote Education for Homemaking . . . Citizenship , . . Mental Health" for their conference theme. This theme is planned to help delegates further deevlop leadership abilities and to become acquainted with Objective 3: Strengthening my education for future roles, and Objective 4: "Launching good citizenship through homemaking.
