Husiness for the evening will include reports from i he various committees and their activities carried on during the summer months and there has been much work done behind the scenes that most of us don't realize of fully appreciate. The executive hoard will report on their meetings and brint^ hefore the residents several- issues which will affect the future of the entire community. I cannot express strongly enough how vitally important it is that every family be represented at this meeting. You will receive a-newsletter or notice on the exact time and place thru the mail. Please watch for it and plan to attend. Residents Mourn Mr. J OUCH Leonard Jones of 12M Driftwood Drive died unexpectedly on Friday, Sept. 4. He is survived by his wife and two daughters. Everyone who came in eontact. with "Mr. Jones" will miss his pleasant easy going way. Although a resident on Driftwood Drive for only two years, he and Mrs. Jones lived on Holiday Drive for 4 years before that. His daily walks down to thechannel and then flown the road, the long way back, brought him in contact with many of us who will surely miss "Mr. Jones." Countrywide Registration Day Are you registered to vote?? This Saturday, Sept. 19, there will be a countrywide registration day. Lorraine Bemis, our local registrar, will be home all day waiting to register all those who have not done so yet. Her home is at 2406 So. Holiday Drive (just around the eryner from Sunset Drive) Don't forfiet your privlege to vote just because you failed to take time out to register. Remember, you MUST be registered to vote. See Lorraine this Saturday and make sure you will,be accepted as a voter at the polls on Nov. 2 to vote for the candidate of your choice. Busy Season Fop Boy Scouts The Boy Scouts of Troop 132 have a busy and exciting season planned. This coming weekend they plan to attend a district camporee. Any of you boys scouting age interested in camp-outs? Well, your scoutmaster and his committee have not one, hut 10 camp-outs scheduled, Sound like fun? Then call your scoutmaster, Victor Justes, Sr., or any one of the following men, Bob Born, Bob MeWilliams, Chuck Hei.se, Bill Smith, Bill Mahon or Don Teubei\ Woman's Club The Woman's Club enjoyed a lingerie fashion show at their last meeting held on Wednesday, Sept. 9 at the home of Vi Abbink. The pretty models who showed the items to their best advantage were Midge Teuber, Alice Malzahn and Mary Born. Business for the evening included discussion on parking at the beach, a reminder of the next donor day for the Blood Bank on Oct. 28„ and a committee for the project scheduled for November. Chairman for the committee is Earline Mettelka, and her committee, Joan Schroeder, Mickey Walters, Audrey Clark and1 Mary Born. It was also agreed that delinquent members who have not attended a meeting for 6 months or. more may be reinstated for a fee of $1.. Hostesses for the evening were Vi Wyczesany, Jean Baird and Gerry Breede. Guild Elects New President At a special meeting of the Mary and Martha Guild of St. John's Lutheran church, Gerry Breede was elected their new president. Home From The Hospital I'm pleased to report that Lorraine Bemis is home from McHenry hospital where she was confined, following a recent heart attack. It will'be a while before she will be able to resume her usually active routine, so keep the cards coming, they have been such a help to her morale. KNOW Y ROBERT HANSEN Robert Hansen is shown here. A member of Company I of the McHenry Township Fire Protection district, he resides at 3920 W. Clearbrook with his wife, Connie, and two children. He was educated in the Fox Lake school system and moved to the McHenry area in 1958. Bob joined the fire department in August, 1960, has been a member of the water fighting team, chairman of the dance committee in 1963 and is currently chairman of the purchasing committee. He is employed by a utility company as a pipe fitter and uses some of his talent in caring for the fire equipment. Bob would like to extend an invitation to any man age 21 or over to join the local department. There are immediate openings for five men. Secure an application and see if you qualify for membership. Mrs. Aebischer returned to Milwaukee with the Stoffels for a visit in ^their home. Mr. and Mrs. Fred J. Miss Joan Adams, who has lx?en employed in Chicago for the summer, is enjoying a week's vacation with her parents, the Alfons Adamses, before entering her third year at Loyola University. Mr. and Mrs. James P. McNeil, former residents of this vicinity, have moved from Woodstock to the Eppel apartment in Oslend. Mrs. Mary Buch entertained at a family get-together on Labor Day Sunday. Her guests were Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Lohr of Evansville, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Buch of Elgin and the Jerome and Henry Buch families of McHenry. The James Brooks family were in Rockford, Labor Day Sunday, where Mr. Brooks attended a reunion with former classmates at Rockford College. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Page returned recently from an enjoyable trip to Canada, Minnesota and North and South Dakota in which they did much sight seeing and also called on relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Purvey accompanied by his sisters, Mrs. Robert Burleigh of Ingleside, Mrs. Frank Riley, of Woodstock and Mrs. Art Bartelt of Crystal Lake, attended seminary festival and roast beef dinner at Sacred Heart Seminary, Geneva, Sunday. Among the other folks, from here who attended were Mr. and Mrs. Peter M. Schaefer, Joseph Wegener and the Jerome Miller family. Ill members, of the Stephen H. Freund family from Chicago, Harvard, Wauconda, Crystal Lake and this vicinity enjoyed their annual Labor Day reunion at the city park on Labor Day. Various games and visiting made up an enjoyable day and a pot-luck dinner and supper was served. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Schommer and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Larsen of Chicago were entertained in the Ray Page home over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Herb Simon enjoyed ;i get-together with their family at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Gerald Hettermann, in Johnsburg on Labor- Day Sunday. Other visitors on Sunday were William Coleman of Lake Geneva and Mike Purvey;of Crystal Lake who came to say good bye before leaving for Des Moines to enter his third year at Drake University. , Mr. and Mrs. William Jordan wore dinner guests in Ihe Carter Givens home in Elgin Sunday evening. Mrs. Jordan's sister, Mrs. Iva Hovet, who had been a guest in their home, returned to Elgin with them. William Courier, who was spending- a furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Courier, in Marengo, visited his grandmother, Mrs. Nellie Bacon, Wednesday evening before returning to his army duties in Fort Knox, Ky. Mr. and Mrs. Kurth Kuehn returned to Manitowac, Thursday after a several days visit in the John Thennes home. They were accompanied home by Mr, and_ Mrs." Thennes who returned to McHenry Monday. John Stoffel, who is employed in Aurora, spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Stoffel. Miss Nancy Lockwood left Sunday for DeKalb where she entered her freshman year at the University. Mr. and Mrs. Alex J. Justen spent the weekend in Minneapolis, Minn., where they attended a reunion of a tour group who went to Europe in 1956. A member of the group from Minneapolis acted as hostess. EVENING SCHOOL Adult evening school begins Oct. 4 at Grant Community high school. The fall semester program features', six new classes not previously offered, in - fields to satisfy all interests. Classes will meet one night, a week starting Oct. 4 and will meet for ten weeks with the exception of Ihe square dancing class which will meet for fifteen weeks.
