Petey Schmidt and her crew will handle the details. The committee is promising an especially good time and we know that the members won't want to miss. The letter from Santa Claus arrived with amazing speed and was delivered to the CullOm^ Knoll Association. This club helps the "Grand Old Man" with his duties. His date -and--time-of arrival is Sunday, Dec. 20, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. He will appear at the beachhouse and will have a "goodie" for each of our small fry. Special Bulletin From The Police Department Residents who have tried to reach our local constabulary are calling the wrong number. .The RIGHT one to call for assistance is 385-2161. Please write this number down and place it beside your phone. When you call the Murrays* number, you may get a busy Signal. According to the chief himself, there are teen-agers using this phone and may have the line tied up. The number here listed is the exclusive police number. If your call is an extreme emergency, the operator will interrupt the busy line to complete the call at once. There have been several instances of residents calling the sheriff's office or the Mc- Henry police department for incidents falling in the local jurisdiction. These offices will Repeat Of Snow Plowing Ordinance And Thanks According to chief of police Earl Murray, most residents have been very co-operative in complying with the snow plowing ordinance which states no cars or vehicles parked on the right-of-way from midnight until 9 a.m. so that snow plowing may be carried out, in many cases, in the early morning hours. We are afforded the finest service in this department also, but one car in the way can cause additional expense and delay. The chief was pleased with la.st week's co-operation during the bad storm and asks for continued compliance. This notice is especially directed to new residents who may be unaware of the local statute. Icy Roads Sends Resident To The Hospital Icy patches on the road sent Mrs. Evelyn Haines to the McHenry hospital last Wednesday afternoon about 4:30 p.m. Evie was traveling west on 120 towards Woodstock when her car struck the ice causing her vehicle to skid, spin around and crash into an oncoming car. She was taken to the hospital wh^re she was still a Home For Recovery Gert Helwig was discharged from McHenry hospital on Sunday following her heart attacks, but it will be at least two weeks before she can attempt anything. Hubby Chet is caring for her but his actions ore also limited. Our best wishes for a return to good health for these two who have been so active in the community when they were able. These two were always among the first to contribute to every good cause and also offered their services. Gert was one of the three founders of the Ladies of the Lake which included Ruth Smith, Betty Poledna (now deceased). We sincerely hope for the very best for these two who have endured the ultimate in adverse conditions and have borne them uncomplainingly! of the cast and Frank has discarded his cane and makes hie several times daily walks unencumbered. His good humor never falters Either. Congrats To Vic Howe who was installed as judge-advocate of the McHenry Barracks of the Veterans of World War I last Thursday evening at the American Legion home. Installed with him was Garfield (Duffy) Benson as chaplain. Village Board The president and trustees will meet in regular session Monday, Dec. 14, at 8 p.m. in the beachhouse. The public is invited to these meetings. Rapid Recovery Frank Tomasek made a most remarkable recovery following his accident which involved a tree, a ladder, and a strong wind. His broken arm is out Men In The Military The most recent inductee is Glenn Gates, son of Violet and Ben Gates, who entered the army on Nov. 23. He is taking his basic training at Fort Knox, Ky., and hopes to qualify for duty in heavy equipment. His length of service will be two years and there isn't much hope for his family that he will be home for the holidays. No furloughs until his nine weeks are up. Happy news for Vi and Ben concerning then younger son, Bob, who was just promoted to AMS3C. He is a structural mech. on aircraft at NAS, Glynco, Ga. Excellent chance that Bob will be home for Christmas. Hi-? term ends in October of 1965 and in the meantime, Bob is taking advantage of all schooling made available. So wonderful to see young Elmer Taylor who wears his Navy uniform proudly. He was home over the weekend from Great Lakes where he is taking his boot training. His ambition is to qualify for UDT-- under water demolition. Chamberlain has announced.
