Harry Postal and Jim Harper along with other Holiday Hills residents attended 4he Nunda township auditors meeting on Feb. 8 and presented the petition signed by a good percentage of our residents asking for road improvements. The petition was approved with Frank Higgins as engineer. The new roads will be paid for by special assessments. Where Were You?? Sunday, Feb. 14, only 56 people out of a possible 140 turned up at the polls to vote.for the officers for the Holiday Hills Property Owners Association. It doesn't' seerri possible that so few people care about the future of the community. This election is as important here as are our township, county, state and national elections. Blue and Gold Dinner The annual Blue and Gold dinner was held on Feb. 7 at the American Legion hall in McHenry. Henry Haufe led the group in prayer before dinner. After partaking of the delicious and plentiful dinner, Roy Lundelius and the den mothers lied a song session. The Hall berg, Muncy, Dobbs and Szamlewskis were welcomed as new families in th£ den. This was followed by the Charter presentation by Robert King, neighborhood commissioner and accepted by Mrs. Gerry Breede. The troop's charter institution report was given by Bob McWilliams. Mrs. Breede presented 1 year scout pins to Kay McWiiliams, Shirley Haufe and Henry Haufe, a 3 year pin to Roy Lundelius and 4 year pins to Bill Schmidt, Jack and Marge Connell. The den mothers received pen and pencil sets in recognition for the work done with the boys. The pack presented Jack Connell with a bowie knife. The awards ceremony as always was very impressive with just one candle lit in the beginning for scouting and each boy adding his own-candle. The following iawards were presented: Bobcat pins went to John Muncy, Richard Szamlewski, Arland Dobbs and Karl Hall berg, Danny Ohlsen, Bear Badge, Jimmy. McWilliams, bear badge and silver arrow and assistant denners badge, Gary Connell, bear badge and silver arrow, Alan Estes, bear badge and 2 silver arrows, Steve Schmidt libn badge, Tommy Weyland, gold and silver arrow, Scott Lundelius, gold arrow, Jim Haufe, silver arrow, James Perkins, gold and silver arrow and Greg Smith would have received 2 silver arrows, but was unable to attend because of a death in the family. The awards were followed by the Cub Scout skit and then a living circle of scouts was formed around the honored guests, Mr. and Mrs. H. Breede, representing the sponsor, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kihg, the neighborhood commissioner, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Born, representing Troop 132 of Holiday Hills.
