Rand Road, Lakemoor, and several passengers in his car were treated at McHenry hospital about 11:45 Saturday night following a one-car accident on Rt. 120, a mile east of McHenry. According to state police, the car was west-bound on the highway when the driver lost control, crossed the road and struck an embankment and then travelled to the opposite side again. Passengers were the driver's brother, Jim Levand; Sue Bolich of 2601 N. Chapel Hill Road, Betty Craven of the same address and the latter's two sons, Donald and Kenneth. None was seriously injured. Other Accidents A car driven by Chester A. Sanford of Chicago was demolished last Saturday when struck by a Milwaukee and St. Paul train on the tracks two miles east of Spring Grove, west of the Johnsburg-Spring Grove blacktop. The driver told sheriff's police he was east-bound on Rt. 12 when he lost control of the auto on icy road. It travelled down the embankment and onto the tracks. He left the car to get help, and while he was away it was struck by an east-bound train, which carried the vehicle 200 feet. Sanford was taken to McHenry hospital for treatment of injuries. Mrs. Anna Marie Scarbrough of Orchard Drive, McCullom Lake, was taken by ambulance to McHenry hospital early Sunday following an accident on north Riverside Drive. Mrs. Scarbrough lost control of her car while travelling on rough road surface and it struck a utility pole. The car was demolished. Terry Cope of Lake Shore Drive. Wonder Lake, was given first aid at McHenry hospital when her car went out of control on Barnard 'Mill Road, west of Ringwood .on Thursday evening. The car left the pavement, returned, and then left the road again and struck a utility pole, according to the sheriff's report. NAMED TO JURY Scheduled to report April 19 for duty as petit jurors are Verna Schlofner, Arthur H. I Roth, Harriet Bell and John H. Ritter of McHenry township. ' Musin' & Meanderin' (Continued from Page 1) brought in by an interested resident. The project is for the sole purpose of helping to enforce the law sponsored by the commission, and strives to help the reader better understand the consequences of the purchase and possession of alcoholic beverages and to ask young people to obey the law. The cooperation of all citizens of the state, particularly law enforcement agencies, is asked in a campaign started because of too frequent violations of the legal requirements and the tragedies which many times have resulted. An occasional very welcome note comes from Frank Justin, a former McHenry resident now living in Chowchilla, Calif. One arrived this week which read: "I have to keep up my weekly contact with my old home town and all our relatives and friends so you will find a two-year renewal for your welcome paper. This has been going on for over 40 years, believe it or not. Had a fine visit recently from an old school pal, Carl Payne, and what did We talk about?-- McHenry of course." With huge mounds of snow melting and the frost out of the ground, mud holes are not uncommon, but they do not dampen the fervor of the faithful in their efforts to get to church. When Broadway Road leading to Mount Hope Methodist church became almost impassible last Sunday, this sign appeared at the bottom: "If the road is bad, and you might get stuck, please walk to God, up through the muck." Those new disposal units which made their way into the business districts of McHenry last week bFi<;hten the streets, with a hint'of spring in the apple green color. K. A. F. STEAL FROM OFFICE Although four offices in the Mathews Realty building at 7318 Hancock Drive, Wonder Lake, were ransacked last week, only $25 was taken from a desk in the office of the building's owner, Thomas P. Ma thews. Entrance was gained by springing a lock on the front door.- The dial to a cabinet safe was knocked off in the office of Attv. Frank Higgins but the intruders were unable to gain entrance.
