Boehm stopped off In San Francisco to visit her son, Jim, who recently returned from South Viet Nam, where he was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Ticonderoga. While in San Francisco, Jim took his mother aboard the Ticonderoga to. visit another McHenry boy, Ed Stacknick. The boys took Mrs. Boehm to lunch in the mess hall of the ship and then took her on a tour of the carrier. Since the ship was in drydock it was in quite a state of repair, but proved to be a most interesting experience. Mrs. Boehm was a Navy WAVE for three and one half years in World War II and had never before seen an aircraft carrier or any of the other large ships which were in port at the time. It will be a visit long remembered.
