John Dunn's eye-witness report of the Selma civil rights march will highlight the Woodstock- McHenry League of Women Voters annual luncheon Tuesday, April 27, at 1 p.m. in the Timbers restaurant. President Jean Thurow will introduce the slate of new board officers. They are Pearl Miyashiro, second vice-president; Mary Ann Mitchell, treasurer; two-year directors, Sandy Becker, Marianne Berman and Pris Melone; one-year director, Barbara Oughton; and Mimi Shuette, Bulletin Editor. Continuing to serve as board directors will be Lorraine Weisz, Catharine Clark, Val Gitlin, Isabel Brody and Beverly Bresnahan. Originally the League of Women Voters was organized to teach women some of the mechanics of voting and election procedures. Over the years the emphasis has shifted to aid and inform all voters. To do this, the Woodstock- McHenry League conducts candidates' meetings; works to get out the vote, conducts community- wide meetings on public issues and offers programs of factual information to other organizations. Bette Smith headed the 1965 nomination committee and Sandy Becker serves as program chairman for the affair. Interested women are invited to attend. Mrs. John Nolan of McHenry, first vice president of the Woman's Auxiliary, presided in the absence of Mrs. Claude McDermott, president. It was decided to hold the quarterly meeting on Tuesday, May 18. Mrs. Allen Peterson of McHenry will represent the Woman's Auxiliary to McHenry Hospital in the Gjant Hospital fashion show called "Hospitals on Parade." The bride is a 1960 graduate of McHenry high school, attended IBM school in Wauk^ gan and is presently attending Elgin Community Jr. college. Her husband, a former resident of Hamburg, Germany, graduated from Barrington high school and attended the University of Illinois for three years. He is with the Air Force, serving as a computer programmer, and will be stationed in Germany for two years. His wife will follow in a few months. Charles E. Frazier of the First Methodist Church in Evanston will be the. speaker. The theme of the rally will be "Why An M,Y,F,?" Rev. Frazier is minister of education of the First Methodist Church, and he has formerly served as director of youth work for the North Georgia Conference. The local arrangements for the rally at Woodstock will be in charge of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Pinney, Rev. A. Stanley Beck is the host pastor. Officers for the Elfein district Methodist Youth Fellowship will be elected aind installed at this meeting. Gary Lockwood, of the Methodist Youth Fellowship of the Community Methodist Church in McHenry, will be in charge of the closing worship and installation service. Craig Rogers, of the First Methodist Church in Elgin has been the President for this past year. John Stiehl of Barrington has been vice-president, and will chair the rally at Woodstock. DISCUSS FULL YEAR SCHOOL PLAN FOR PTA The McHenry Community PTA will hold its next meeting Thursday, April 29, at 7:30 p.m. at the Junior high school. This will be election night as well as the final meeting of the year. The meeting is being called early so that the business portion can take place before 8 p.m., when the program will be started. Mrs. Charles Liebman will discuss the "Full Year School Plan". Because of the interest shown in this topic, the general public is invited to attend and take part in the question and discussion period which will follow the program. Refreshments will be served following the program and discussion period.
