(»5rl Scout News At their meeting of April 19 troop 88 went to their patrols 1 o collect clues and have their treats. Later they practiced for the forthcoming banquet, picked color guards and an announcer. This troop along with about, eight ' or nine others, participated in the annual Father- Daughter banquet held at the McIIenry high school on April 21. These were junior and cadette troops from the McHenry area. Each scout brought a dish to pass. After dinner each troop rendered their entertainment. This troop had an "International Friendship" program. Group^inging brought this delightful evening to a close. Sounds of Wedding: Bells Heard Loud and clear these bells sounded last Saturday morning when the former Elaine Michels became the lovely bride of Kenneth Townsend of Richmond. The ceremony was performed in St. John's church at 10 o'clock that morning. A dinner for the bridal party and immediate family members was held at noon at Hettermann's. Later in the day about 400 relatives and friends were on, hand in the community club hall to extend their best wishes to the newly married couple. We join in extending our wishes for a most happy future together as Mr. and Mrs. Townsend.. Elaine is the daughter of Clarence (Jake) and Lucille Michels of Pistakee Bay. Hospital Patient We are sorry to report that Mrs. Carl Neiss is confined to the McHenry hospital. Diane became ill Friday evening and entered tho hospital Saturday morning. Speedy get-well wishes to her and we hope her stay will, be limited. Rescue Squad Notes Two calls were answered by the members of the Johnsburg Rescue Squad this past week, bringing the running count up to 2ACA. On the 27th of April at 9:30 a.m., a call came from Pistakee Highlands where a youngster suffered from a respiratory ailment. He was taken to the McIIenry hospital for treatment. Sunnyside Beach Drive was the- scene of another of their calls on the 30th at 6:35 p.m. The patient was having respiratory trouble and was treated at the scene by a doctor. Hints from the squad this week has to do with house numbers. Please see that your home is numbered in a conspicuous place. You never know when you will need the squad's assistance and the numbered home will enable them to get there in the fastest time possible. Also if you need them at night, please try to signal them as to your location when you hear them approaching. Just a flicker of your outside lights will be a big help. Another helpful thing would be if you reside far into a subdivision, if possible try to have someone at the entrance to lead them in. An on and off light signal from your car lights .or even a flashlight will do, will be of great assistance. Please try to keep these little pointers in mind as they may save a life in the future. Guetzloff Addition Lovingly Welcomed A wee lady by the name of Cynthia Ann came to live in the home of George and Marilyn Guetzloff of Dolores Drive recently. Illinois ' First Holy Conimuiiion Celebrations Just a few of the family gatherings honoring the Communion day of th^ir children that I heard about were Monica Neiss. Stephanie Hiller, Mike Roberts and Roger Pechous. Though Monica's mother was in the hospital on her special day. she was feted with a large party at the home of her grandparents, Leo and Martha Freund. Her Dad, Carl, and two brothers, Randy and Ricky, were there to make the day complete. Lpts and lots of relatives and friends were present in the Chuck Hiller home last Sunday honoring Stephanie's First Holy Communion Day. Her Dad was unable to be there because he is busy playing ball with the San Francisco Giants but all her other company participated in making this day a most happy one. Sunday evening Mike Roberts was guest of honor in his home at a gathering for his special day. Lots of activity went on during that time. The weather was so beautiful last Sunday that all the company that was on hand for young Roger Pechous' "big day" took to the outdoors. All his kinfolk made Rogie the center of attraction for the day. Give me a buzz next week if you had a party or a gathering of sorts for your youngster^ and I'll be most happy to write it up for the next issue of this column. As I bring this column to a close this week the sun in shinand so beautifully it makes a person feel good all over. Every one of us is hoping this lovely weather is here to stay. Time will tell. The last thought for this column is Mother's Day which will be observed next Sunday, May 9. Be extra good to her on this day as well as the other 364 in the year. Remember you only get one so treat her with special care. Happy Mothers Day to all you happy mothers.
