Philip Reilly,_. superintendent of Marian Central high school, that Sister M. Elizabeth Ann, C.S.C., has been transferred to. Bishop Noll Institute, Hammond, Ind., as guidance director of the girls' department. After serving as principal of the countywide school for five year, Sister will leave in June to serve on the summer faculty at St. Mary's College, Notre Dame, Ind. §he served as principal of St. Mary's school, Woodstock, from 1945 to 1948, after which she held other school positions until being transferred to Marian high in 1960. WORTHY MATRON WORTHY PATRON NIGHT ALOES Elsie Reiker Is Presented With Fifty-Year Pin The McHenry Chapter No. 547 of the Order of the Eastern Star held Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron Night at the Acacia Masonic hall. It was a very memorable night for Worthy Matron Phyllis Koehler and Worthy Patron Duane Overton, who were pleased with the exceptionally large attendance. One of the highlights of the evening occurred when Worthy Matron Phyllis Koehler presented Sister Elsie Reiker with her "fifty-year" pin. Lincoln Road 385-0855 One of the major new projects of. the McHenry County Dairy Promotion Council involves women's church organizations -- those women's groups which serve dinners as money making ventures. The McHenry County Dairy Promotion Council plans a meeting in late June, inviting a representative of each of these women's groups to learn how they can use dairy products profitably when they serve these meals. The other new project is in* tended to encourage waitresses to suggest that adults drink milk with their meal. Mystery diners will be authorized to give $2 to those waitresses which make the suggestion without prompting. This part of the Dairy promotion Council's effort is expected in late June. Dairy Princess aspirants will appear on George Menards television show at 5:45 a.m. this Friday on Channel 2. They will also appear on Orion Samuelson's television show at 7:15 a.m. on WGN-TV. Samuelson will have the county Dairy Princess candidates as his noon-time guests on "Country Fair" from 12:15 to 12:55 p.m. Miss Cheryl Smith, 1965 June Dairy Month chairman in Illinois, will make similar radio and television appearances to launch the 1965 celebration on Monday, May 31. The McHenry County Dairy Promotion oCunci! plans a Dairy Princess contest and the annual dairy banquet. The daily banquet will be held Thursday, July 1, at the Woodstock Moose Lodge. Mrs. Patricia Hogan Parsley accepted the assignment to coordinate the program aimed at helping women's church groups. While invitations will be sent to these groups insofar as possible, Mrs.' Parsley asks that any women's organizations affiliated with a church that does not receive invitations to contact her at Woodstock 338-1533.! One representative of each church group will be invited to a luncheon. Exact date and place will be established by Mrs. Parsley. Miss Connie Rudsinski, reigning McHenry County Dairy Princess, will return from college in time to take part in McHenry county's June dairy month festivities. Connie is available to talk before services groups and women's organizations. Program chairman desiring to obtain Connie as a speaker should contact Henry Edgerton, secretary of the Dairy Promotion Council, at 338-2000 JUNE 1 DEADLINE FOR ART FAIR REGISTRATION Barbara Tade, 720 Woodland Dr. Crystal Lake, urges all McHenry county artists to send her their registration cards by June 1. Ahy artist who is a resident of McHenry county is eligible to enter the Country Art Fair, which will be held at the McHenry Jr. high school on June 18, 19 and 20. "We want young people of high school age to enter also", Mrs. Tade stated. "They will be judged in the regular adult show this year, which is the way most of them seem to prefer it." Anyone who has not received an entry blank by mail may contact Mrs. Tade at 459-3774. The deadline for the photography show registration, in connection with the Art Fair, is also June 1. Newly installed carillon chimes, played by an expert carilloneur at the Student Union keyboard, wiir provide the musical accompaniment fpr the gowned processional to be led by WSU faculty from "Old Main" to the athletic field. Dr. Daniel J. Dykstra of the University of Utah will give the commencement address. Miss Leibach will receive the bachelor of education degree in primary education. Mr. Espey will receive the bachelor of business administration degree in business administration. While attending WSU-W Mr. Espey was a member of Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity and held the office of house chairman. He was also president of the Letterman Club and captain of the wrestling team. Miss Leibach was publicity chairman of the Association for Childhood Education. She will teach first grade at Racine this fall. Mr. Espey will lie working in Aurora, 111. WRITING AWARD Eight creative writing awards were announced at Northern Illinois University by Dr. E. Nelson James, adviser to Sigma Tau Delta, English honorary fraternity. One of two short story awards went to Michael Meeker, McHenry senior. for his entry, "The Policy". V. F. W. AUXILIARY NEWS by Renee Jende In an impressive ceremony, the joint installation of the V.F.W. Fox River Post 4600 and auxiliary was held on Saturday, May 15. The officers that were installed were auxiliary president, Jean Wiles, sr. vice-president, Viola Schuble; junior vice-president, Ethel Groth; treasurer, Marge Moreth; secretary, Dorothy\ Reinboldt; chaplain, Inez Young; guard, Dora Krocker; historian, Gerry Breede; conductress, Josephine Hansen; musician, Kathy Frazier; banner bearer, Florence Tussey; three year trustee, Jr. Past President, Genevieve Bradley; and the color team, Renee Jende, Vi Abbink, Mary Miller and Sylvia Hess. The conductress and her color team had a large part in the installation ceremonies and they all did a fine job. Jean Wiles, the new president, thanked Gene Bradley for the assistance she gave her in her move up the chairs. She asked for the auxiliary's continued support and with a gal like Jean, who is hard working and sincere,* how could she help but get it? Under Jean's able leadership, this auxiliary will continue to be the fine service organization for which it was originated. We wish "Madam Pres." the best of luck during the ensuing year. Following the installation was a buffet supper, served by kitchen chairman, Vi Abbink, ahd assisted by Porothy Reinboldt. Orchids to these two gals for their hard work. Dancing ^concluded an enjoyable evening. Preparations for the Fiesta queen contest are well under Way. The girls had their first practice and class of instruction in poise and make-up on Wednesday, May 19. The contest is sponsored by the V.F.W. auxiliary. Chairman is Jean Wires and co-chairman, Ethel Groth. The crowning of the queen will be June 14, at the V.F.W. cluh.
