Cathy Humann was there and taught the girls a new game. They discussed their last meeting which is to be a cook-out on June 8. The girls are to meet at Mrs. Quast's and they will then walk over to the East Beach for their hot dogs. They will be through at 6 p.m. Blue Bundles Penny and Donald Veenhuis are the proud parents of their second boy, Randy, born on May 26 at Sherman hospital. He weighed in at 6 lbs., 10 Vi ozs. Randy's brother, Danny, Js eagerly waiting at home. Men's Softball Tournament A meeting was held on May 26 at the community house to organize a baseball tournament for men of Lakeland Park. It was decided after much discussion that a practice session will be held on Monday night, June 7, at 6:45 p.m. at baseball diamond near the community house. If any of you men who plan to attend the practice session have a softball or bat, kindly bring it with you. The first baseball game will be played on Sunday afternoon, June, 13, at 5 p.m. Dick Walinski has mentioned he expects enough men to complete two full teams for the first game on June 13. Fisher Baby Christened Little Susan Lynn Fisher was welcomed into the Zion Lutheran church on Sunday, May 30 at 10:30 services. Susan's sponsors were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sadowski of the Park. A terrific dinner and day was held in Susan's honor with all her relatives in attendance. Strolling Through The Park Many of our residents took advantages of the first weekend holiday of the year and went on camping trips, among those enjoying mother nature were the Funk, Gladman, Laursen and Duffy families. Frankie Vanek also went witb them to Wisconsin to have a wonderful time. Lloyd, David and Tommy Wagner spent their weekend on a fishing trip to Exeland, Wis. Hope they caught enough fish for Gerry to have a huge fish fry. Rose and Ed Oswald had several anniversary dinners for their forty-sixth year of wedded bliss last week. On Sunday they were the guests of their daughter's family in Evanston. They also shared in the celebration of their second oldest granddaughter's receiving her Catholic Girl Scout religious award. Tuesday they had dinner with their friends, Barb and Joe Herman, of Lake Marie. Nedra, Les and Billy Eekhart took Nedra's mom, Mrs. Chamblin, back to the city on Sunday following hor week's stay with them. Eckharts then attehded a graduation party at a well known dining spot for the graduation of a son of one of their friend's from college. Joan Plucinski had her cousin, Ted, from Poland as her house guest for the past two weeks. He returned to the city along with the Plucinskis on Friday. Joan and her three youngsters spent the weekend at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Grimm. Johnny Hendle was host for several of his neighborhood pals on Thursday of last week. Birthday cake and ice cream followed many games. Helping Johnny celebrate besides his brother, Marty, were Kurt Lorel, Brian and Mickey DiBlasi, Danny Koch, Mike Johnson, Larry Cooper and Bobby. Saturday it was a gathering of the family clan from the city honoring his birthday. Johnny's most prized gift was his two wheel bike from his grandparents. Our subdivision will be well represented in the coming Fiesta Day Queen contest this year. We know that Elaine Piasecki, Florence Jumper, Mary Ann Krupinski and Marge Parisi have all entered. Our very best wishes go to them all. Grace Mandziara had a house full of guests on Sunday of last week. The Kozy family spent a busy holiday weekend. On Friday their guests for the evening were Joyce and Bob Pierce of Palatine. Saturday had the Kozys helping friends, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Tern berg, pouring cement and enjoying the day after the work was done. On Sunday, Carol and Richard Hill were the Kozys' guests for a picnic. The Hills also call Palatine home. Earlier in the week Jan's mom, Mrs. Helen Nelson, had visited with them for three days, she calls Chicago home. We all at some time in our lives have read or" heard the story about "Jdhnny Appleseed" but we have a Marty Appleseed in our subdivision. Our Marty was just one step different because he sold imaginary tree seeds to his neighbor. The neighbor enjoyed the little lad so much that he planted the imaginary seeds. Marty Hendle, you're a born salesman. Belated birthday wishes go to Len Bottari who celebrated last week. Paul and Pat Richardson will celebrate their eighth wedding anniversary on the 6th of June. Pat's brothers and sister were out from Chicago several weeks ago and had quite a blast. Kathy Harper celebrated her eighth birthday on the 25th of May. Judy Revak celebrated her eighth birthday on the 26th of May. Their dog Bingo celebrated his second birthday last week also. Leah and Wally Nuss attended a play in Chicago yesterday with the compliments of Wally's place of work. Dottie and Chuck Stockdale and children spent Memorial weekend in Cleveland, Ohio, to visit his sister and husband and new baby. Reminders Open Little League meetings for the summer months will be held on the last Wednesday^of each month as always, the only thing different will be the opening time will be at 8 instead of 7:30 as during winter months. Mr. Roeder comes to Ringwood from Spring Grove school. He has a B. A. Degree, and is working on his Masters. We welcome Mr. Roeder to our school and will see him in the fall. School Board Notes The Ringwood School District No. 34 has joined the S.E.D.O.M. (The Special Edudation District of McHenry County) with the purpose of S.E.D.O.M.: to provide special educational facilities for the exceptional children. Paul Walkington and Will Roeder will be on the board of directors for S.E.D.O.M. Windy In Ringwood Mrs. Gerry Kunz called on Tuesday to say that Mr. Wind did his share of damage to her yard. It took the glass insert right out of her front door, blew her Madonna statue and other yard decorations. It took the insert from the door and dropped it at the road all smashed. Volunteers Mowed Park Verbal orchids to the township road crew for mowing the Ringwood park, and to Paul Walkington, who also has helped with the mowing of our pork, for the Memorial Day holiday.
