The fountain will be turned ®s soon as .they can get a man out to open it up. Due ito the fact that the Simonsens are moving on the 14th, Helen has turned in her resignation as secretary of the board and also as director. Willis Coates has agreed to •take over the job of secretary until the next election and it has been decided to wait to replace Helen as a director as her term was to expire this year. In the meantime we will have eight directors. Herb Clausen has agreed to take over the sergeant-at-arms position due to the resignation of Bill Corcoran, Two new members were welcomed to the club, Mr. and ?Irs. Howard Bieritz of 717 Riverside drive who were not ahle to attend the meeting but promised to be with us in September and Mr. and Mrs. T. Elia of 3114 Kinley who have moved into the Burchfield house. Welcome to them. Jack and Elsie Schmitt have rejoined after an absence of a year and were at the meeting. Nice to see them again. and may you spend many more happy years together. Beach Duty On June 13 Bob Petersen will be in charge of clean-up duty at the beach and R. Mack, S. Risiak, E. Raddatz, R. Whiteside and L. Korczyk are on the roster as co-workers. Ball Game on the 20th . The SAC Club and the McHenry Shores Club and getting squared off to play basebadl at the diamcrnd on June 20 at 2 o'clock. Tom Burke is captain of the SAC boys and Dale Jenner the McHenry Shores Club. So choose a team and 'Let's Play Ball'. Birthdays Happy birthday wishes on June 12 go to Marie Addante, Philip Brod and Terry Wetzel; Michael Whetherhult and Diane Flint on the 13th; Diane will be 9 on that day; William 'Billy' Rostal who will be 9 onthe 14th also Harold 'Mickey' McDermott, Albert Simbour^er on the 15th and Otto Gruner on the 16th. A wonderful day to all. Anniversaries Walter and Anna Conner will have an anniversary on June 12, William and Anna Tennent on the 13th, and Arthur and Jeanne Egger on the 14th. Congratulations to all Bits of News Ruth Jenner's brother and sister, Joyce and David Lancaster, from Logan, W. Va., are visiting the Shores, David will be keeping Chuckie company for the summer. Roberta and A1 Mieritz spent the Memorial Day weekend in Eagle River, Wis., fishing and lolling around. Roberta caught one pine tree and -two logs, ho{)e A1 did better than that. Kurt Pogor, who plays outfielder for the Major League, is still on a winning streak. His team has won three games in a row and will be playing again on Sunday ait the VFW grounds in town. Grandpa is coming in to proudly watch the game. Irene, • Clare and Robby Mueller enjoyed the holiday in Manitovvish Waters, Wis., getting in a little relaxation and fishing. Barb and Ray Pogor attended a Bar Mitzvah at a downtown hotel in honor of Mr. Barry Allan Kogan. The boys, Kurt and Paul, stayed at Grandma's house for the night. Ray Pogor's niece, Sharon Migalski, graduated from Holy Family Academy with gold honors, being ninth in a class of 169 pupils. Ray was very proud to be part of the group in attendance. Last Saturday len couples had a bowling banquet, first enjoying a fine meal and then going dancing at the Moose Hall in Woodstock. The group consisted of the boys of the L and M league and their wives. Kelly and Helen Simonsen gave a graduation party on Sunday in honor of their daughter, Pat. Aunts and uncles and relatives from both sides wished Pat the best of everything. Helen and Kelly will be moving on the 14th so good luck tq them as they take an apartment in Cooney Heights. The McHenry Shores Club is losing a willing worker in Helen as she holds two positions now and will be missed. They are going to keep in touch with us and will attend our picnic in July, so it isn't as if they are going too far -- Good-by for now, will be seeing you soon. Welcome the Elias Tom and Lee Elia have been welcomed into the Shores by Audrey Whitney. The Elias have recently moved into the house at 3114 Kinley Boulevard and have a black cat named Snowball who is their 'family' since they are newlyweds. They have joined the McHenry Shores Club arid attended the June meeting. Welcome, and we hope you like our little'community. Meet the Bieritzes Although they have been living here for over a year Mr. and Mrs. Bieritz of 717 Riverside drive have never been welcomed in .until now. We apologize for this oversight and hope they haven't felt too neglected. They have also joined the Club. Audrey has taken over the job of welcoming in newcomers arid has requested that you all help her by calling her when some one moves into your section as it is pretty difficult to keep track the entire area. Graduates Congratulations to some of our graduates. In the eighth grade we have Mike Wetzel, Ellen Tiggemann, Johnny Valey and Tony Koieno. In the high school group Pait Mueller, Sandy Wetzel and Pat Simonsen will be having their big day. Best wishes to all th(e girls and boys we have missed. The Smiths Visit Meeting John and Daisy surprised everyone by dropping in at our meeting last Thursday. They have just returned from Philadelphia and New York where they took in the Fair and spent some (time with Daisy's mother. Although they regret leaving the Shores they are looking forward to their trip to Hawaii. Daisy said after all the farewell dinners given by their friends they are both getting a little chubby and will have to start watching their calories soon. The Smiths will be leaving Wonder Lake Sunday, driving to Yellowstone Park, the Salt Lake City Tabernacle and staying in San Francisco for 5 days before leaving, on the SS President Wilson on July i, celebrating the 4th 5 on the high seas and will arrive in Honolulu on the 6th. After visiting friends they will go to Hilo on the 10th where they will stay. The best of luck to John and Daisy in their new home, and they promised to keep in touch with us. Dale Jenner Back From Fishing Trip On Friday night, the 21st of May, Dale Jenner took off with a friend, motored to Orr, Minn., near the Canadian border, from there boated for 45 minutes to a place that had no phones or TV. Sort of roughing it. At the en!d of the week they were joined by four more boys who flew up for the holiday weekend. They all caught their limit in walleyes and had a wonderful time. Dale got back home on Sunday and then the family celebrated Chuckie's birthday which was on the 27th while Daddy was gone. Lindwalls Return From Vacation „ Connie and Charlie Lindwall got back on Sunday after three weeks in the East, visiting Vermont, New York, and New Jersey. The weather was wonderful and the foliage and scenery just gorgeous. They had a busy time visiting friends and relatives and had a family reunion at Connie's sister's home. Naturally the Fair was taken in and the Illinois Pavilion and the General Motors exhibit were the two things that impressed them the most. Charlie's mother accompanied them and is now staying in Plattsburg, N. Y. with a friend until the first part of July. The water shortage is still plaguing the folks out east, they are all praying for rain, strange as it sounds. The Lindwalls returned on Sunday and are now goitiivj; caught up with gardening and work around the house. It was very interesting to see how coffee cakes and cheese cakes are made, and how everything is so automatic. The two girls who worked hard on making the chicken salad and making the outing a success- were Helen Rodde and Pearle Stineman. Their helper on the salad was Jo Bartelt. Wayne Sampson New Scout Executive Wayne Sampson, who has been serving as district executive of Rockford's Chaske District, has been appointed as the new assistant Scout executive of Blackhawk Area Council. The appointment was made by Reinhold G. Miller, Scout executive, and was effective June 1. In his new assignment, Sampson will be responsible for field service, commissioners, organization and extension, advancement and training.
