SHOP IN McHENRY LAKELAND PARK ANNEXATION Seems unfortunate if some Tiembers of the Lakeland Park Property Owners association would ^.give the incorrect impression that real estate taxes after annexation to McHenry would barely be in excess of $15 per year. "The tax rate per $100 of assessed valuation in McHenry vas $3,874 while in Lakeland S h o r e s i t w a s $ 3 , 2 6 2 . T h i s means increase in taxes would be about 19 percent higher, if living in McHenry, over what t is in Lakeland Shores. For example a bi-level home in Lakeland Shores would be about $60 higher after being annexed to McHenry and a ranchette type home with attached garage would be approximately $50 to $55 higher, )n basis of increased tax rate. (Year 1964). "The vehicle tag for your auto would be $4 per year, which has just been increased from $3. This is an extra the unincorporated area of Lakeland Shores does not have now. "The important Consideration is that taxes will be higher after being annexed. Those that expect major improvements without assessments above and beyond the real estate taxes could be greatly disappointed at a later date. Major improve ments like new pavement or major road repairs are take years to pay for via assessments. * "Two newspapers recently reported an unofficial-poll was quite favorable in Lakeland . Park on the issue of annexation. Since this was an unofficial poll and before all the facts were in the hands of the property owners of the area, the final result could very well be quite different in an official poll or election, conducted according to the laws of the county and state and under the supervision of judges of election, appointed by the court, especially after the people had honest Information given them in regards the issue. "If annexation then cornea via; the ballot, all will be glad the people are going forward on the basis of knowing What's ahead. Nothing could be/fairer.
