Pag* Six \ THE McHENRY PLAINDEALER Thursday, January 27,1966 WONDER LAKE NEWS lUSf LOU HARTQG 658-7176 PLAN BENEFIT DANCE FOR BOYS BASEBALL LEAGUE Cheers for all the men who have worked so hard the past few months to get the newly formed Boys Baseball League off to a good start. For many years the baseball leagues have consisted of three separate organizations - each with its own managers, fund raising activities, etc. This new group have consolidated the . minormajor- and pony league into one group under the heading of the W. L. Boys Baseball League. They take in all boys from 8 to high school age. It is their desire to eliminate all the various fund raising activities and have just one a year: The proceeds from this party will cover all their needs for the year if it is as well attended, as they hope^t will be. The big party and dance - which the group hopes will be the social event of the year - will be held at the American Legion home in Wonder Lake on Feb. 5. o Under the able leadership of the League president, Louis Smith, the men have put together a party which promises to be one of the best. So set that date aside for one of the best evenings you have ever had. Tickets may be obtained from any of the team managers or members or at the door the night of the party. Don't forget now -- Fob. 5th,, American Legion in Wonder LaKe. If you like to dance and <<]Rave a real swingin' time - that's the place to go. You'll have fun and help the kids too. Swing Your Partners!!! Would you like to learn to square-dance ? Well now you can. Just set aside Thursday nights and get on over tp Nativity Lutheran church hall at 8 p.m. and join the fun. It Pays to Advertise +* Tlie response to l i^t week's column was very encouraging to the Association Board, thov have received a few calls offering assistance 'with tlie snow plowing. Just as soon a's time permits these interested people will have an opportunity to get the feel of the equipment, and be able to handle the tractor. It is good to have plenty of reserve workers in the event of a severe storm, sometimes illness or other circumstances make it impossible for the board to d> their utmost. We know their concern is always for tlie best f u' our subdivision, but they need willing helping concerned neighbors who know what needs to be done, and will pitch in and give a helping hand. Let's all think it over and I'm sure there is at least one way you can improve tilings right off the bat, that is to pay your associatjon dues as soon as possible . - Wonder View Auxiliary News The Women's Auxiliary met atf the home of Bernie Lee of 7608 Catalpa Drive on !Thursday, Jan. 20, jL at 7:30 p.m. Attendance Wfis not too good, Audrey Burrows, Clara Meyeres, Roberta Vermes and Bernie Lee seem to be the only healthy ones in the group. He leaves Feb. l for the Navy. His sisters, brother, and other family members were present to participate in the combination party doings. Sunshine \ Seekers What a wonderful time to "get out of town". I'm referring to the foursome of Bob and Dolores Meyer and Bob and Barb Hettermann. They have spent the past two weeks vacationing in Florida. They certainly knew the right time to get away from our town. They will be sorry when they are greeted by this shivering cold upon their return. The Meyers and the Hettermanns visited various relatives of theirs while in the south besides doing lots of sightseeing. Upon arriving in Florida they spent some time with John Meyer who isJ in the service stationed at Jacksonville. He is Bob's younger-brother. They should have enough warmth stored up in their memories to see them through the rest of the winter, don't you think? While Bob and Barb were gone, Bobby and Julie were in capable care of the maternal g r a n d p a r e n t s , t h e A r n o l d Rauens. And so it is time to close for anoffier" week*. keei those phone calls coming. It'i lot of fun to write this column if there is something, to write about. Pray da41y for world pSace.
