Wonder Lake News EVELYN RASKE PHONE 653-4362 Measle Vaccine Given Children So far 163 children have been given the free measle vaccine in the Wonder Lake area. In the absence of Doctor Santo Ruggero, Mrs. Earl Schuster, a Registered nurse, and the chairman of the health committee at Harrison school, called .. upon Mrs. Ralph Schmall and Mrs. F. Lind, both registered nurses to step in and give a helping hand in administering ;the shots. The program is not complete but to date twenty-eight preschool and eighty school age children from the Greenwood area have been vaccinated and fifty-five pre-schoolers at Haif-? rison school have been vaccinated. Doctor Ruggero, who wgis detained at the hospital last Wednesday, plans to be on hand to complete the program this week. The complete total of shots administered will be given in next week's paper. Fight Communism The McHenry Township Republican Club is sponsoring a C a r d i n a l M i n d s z e n t y S t u d y Group in combatting Communism with knowledge and facts. There will be 10 sessions, every other Thursday starting March 24 at 8 p.m. at the McHenry High School. These meetings are non-bias, open for men and women and are free of charge. Luncheon A Success A buffet-type luncheon and style show was held at the Mill Inn on March 17 where s o m e e i g h t y p e o p l e w e r e served. The food, of which there was an abundance, was just great even down to.,the green dessert in honor of Saint Patrick's Day. After lunch, Miss Jan Hann of the Sbyaquay Council showed slides of the three council-owned campsites purchased and maintained by -the profits of the cookie sales. Out of the sale of a box of cookies, "the troop gets a 'nickel and the remaining profit goes to buy these campsites. To date, the council owhs Hawthorne Hill, Chapman Hills and Lofig Lake Camp in Wisconsin. The style show was presented with the co-operation of Kay Diedrich. The lovely models were Rita Bebber, June Kink, Connie Schleicher, Marilyn Topp, Harriett : Van Kanegan and Mrs. Richardson and the children models were Susie Van Kanegan, Michael Diedrich and Patty McMillan. Klwanls Meeting The March 14 program was taken care of by Guy-White who showed a film of the 1965 Master Golf Tournament at Augusta* Ga, Acting Secretary Bill Cristy said that the committee reports were . tardy this week. Joe Sullivan reported on the March 7 flag presentation to the Wonder Lake Explorer Post 145 by Lorraine Murphy representing the V.F.W. Fox River Post, McHenry. The March 21 program was taken care of by Horace Wagner, while the Inter-Club with Crystal Lake, will be handled by Jim Robison on March 29. Art Lau will take care of the Green Candle Program on April 25. President Bob Howe announced that the Kiwanis District bowling tournament will be at Peoria on May 14 and 15. John Craig won the Battl^ AxAward, Name Changed At the last meeting of the Little Sewers it was decided that since the girls wanted to branch out a little and try their hand in other activities that the name should be changed from the Little Sewers to the Girls Hobby Club; ' Election, of officers was held at the last meeting with Charmaine Vidovich being named president, Diane B<*rta, vicepresident, Helen Burlack, secretary, and Anna Burlack as treasurer. For the next few weeks, the girls will be taking cooking lessons. Peanut Butter cookies, were their first attempt with the promise of more to come.
