"Due to the wholehearted cooperation of local health departments, private physicians and parents in utilizing the measles vaccine, it is estimated that about '.10.00') cases or "measles were aborted this past season, as compared to the reported cases in the last epidemic year, 1956," Dr. Franklin D. Yoder. director of the Illinois Department of Public Health, reported. If each child were immunized in the first year of life, measles and its complications would be virtually eliminated, Dr. Yoder said. Illinois birds, reptiles and mamals. Less than a dozen species attack man. The female wood ticks usually get a blood meal from a mammal, lay their eggs, and die. They are nearly all gone by late July. Some species of ticks can cause Rocky Mountain fever; others cause paralysis of animals, such as raccoons, cattle, : loose, buffalo and, rarely, man. Paralysis of human beings from ticks has so far not been reported in Illinois, according to Dr. L. J. Stannard, entomologist of the Illinois Natural History Survey. The best way to avoid trouble from the tiny pests is to apply one of the insect repellents before going into brushy places. EXTERIOR FLAT HOUSE PAINT While and Colors $^jH4 GAL. MAIN PAINT 3819 W.
