It will take place in the Legion parking lot from Wednesday, June 22, through Sunday, June 26. The advance carnival dates mean that McHenry folks are in store for two displays of fireworks. A miniature display will be seen on Thursday and Friday nights of the carnival period, a prelude to the gigantic display to be held on July 4. STUDENTS HURT IN TUESDAY CRASH QN CITY STREET Thomas P. Carroll, If, of 1716 Knowell avenue, Lakeland Park, was ticketed by Sgt. Ken Espey for reckless driving Tuesd&y morning about 8:05 when lie w^s driving west on Main street at a high rate of speed. He was passing a car and attempting to turn left on Fourth street when he crashed head on into an auto driven by Arthur G. Weirich, Jr., 16, of 1411 N. Chapel Hill road, who was traveling east on Main street. A passenger in the Weirich vehicle, Richard Tonyan, 17, 312 W. Bay road, received head injuries and Weirich was badly bruised about the legs. Carroll was uninjured. Both cars were demolished. Thomas Evans of 3716 W. Waukegan road, McHenry, was blamed by sheriff's police for an accident on Rt. 120, east of the city, last Saturday. According to police, he was making a left turn into a drive-in and turned in front of another auto driven by Michael Reitz of Ingleside. ROBERT H. KBANZ IS ADVANCED TO SERGEANT RANK At Monday's McHenry City Council meeting, Mayor Doherty, with approval by the council, elevated Police Officer Robert H. Kranz to the rank of sergeant. Officer Kranz has taken special interest in juvenile work and at the present time is completing a special course in this department of police work. Thursday nights are a trial time for the convenience of the musicians who are working musicians on weekend nights. To maintain the standard of excellence for which this group is known, Thursday nights will be the concert night for the 1966 season. 8 'clock / is also a new time, for the convenience of the audiences who have requested this times- The band this year is under new leadership. John Leighty, veteran saxophonist with the band, will be in charge this year. New tunes are forthcoming, also. For example, "Bat Man Theme" will highlight the first concert. Also a fresh new arrangement by Mr. Leighty, featurir^ vocalist Dick Piatt on the old Hogey Carmich^el favorite of 1939, "A Huggin and A Chalkin", and a few themes from recent movies will round out the first concert.
