He was followed by Lamont in 39th, Alderson in ti3rd, Stahl in 75th, Mark ••( / MCHS SENIORS WIN GAA HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIP Friday, October 28, after school the G.A.A. All Star hockey game was held. In the first game of the day, the sophomores battled •he juniors. The teams were pretty evenly matched and both put up a-good fight. During the first quarter, there was no seore. It was mostly just getting warmed up. Then, in the second quarter, the juniors started their "fx>wer-play". They worked the ball quickly down the field and Sue Jones smashed it in for he juniors first goal. The btU was put back in play, and, again, the juniors took possession. As they approached the goal, Shirley Doherty received a pass and knocked it through for No. 2. The half-time score was 2-0, juniors. The sophomores were detprmined to pass the juniors in the 3rd quarter. From the way they played, it looked as tho they might. They ran down the field, keeping possession of the ball. Patsy Meyers shot a goal, but it was no good because of a foul on the play. The sophomores, now angry because the goal didn't count, took possession once more. This time, ^Nancy Lam berg drove it in for a goal. The score was now 2-1. After the center bully, the juniors got possession and fought their way down the field. Once down the field. Cathy Bolger flipped i t through for No. 3. The sophomores quickly retaliated with Patsy Meyers, again, dribbling down and chalking up another for tho sophomores. With a 3-2 score in the 4th quarter, the game became rougher than usual. But the winning juniors held off the determined sophomores to win the first game 3 - 2. The Tired and the Rmtieas After a few minutes rest, the championship game between the tired juniors and the restless seniors began. T h e r i v a l r y b e t w e e n t h e s e classes was riding high. The seniors hadn't ever beaten the juniors and were determined to do so, just as much as the juniors were determined to beat them again. 4n the first half, both teams put up excellent defense. There were terrific battles to get possession of the ball during the whole time. Neither team was able to score in the first half. In the third quarter, both SAVE a few $$ FOR NEXT TIME M c H E N R Y SAVINGS. A N D I 0 A N A S S O C I A H O N Smith in 78th, Roby in 83rd, and W. Smith in 94th. North Suburban s c h ools managed to grab the two top' places team wise, with Libertyville finishing 2nd, Barrington 5th, and Woodstock 8th, The winning runner was froni Crow high school, followed by Mike Nutting of Libertyville. This season was not a fabulous one, nor was it a disastrous one. McHenry managed to hold their own in most meets, but lacked one outstanding runner and also great numbers. With some good sophomores and Tony- Wagner returning next year, perhaps coach Don Seaton will be able to field a ytffrfc ner for the McHenry [am in 1967. However, in order t o produce a winner, he will need more boys out for the sport, and more support from interested parties. I^et's hope that next fall will see morv athletes out for a sport that is grueling and tough, to say the least. Maybe our suppori and their hard work will produce a winner when the tracksters once again begin thoir season. FBI MAKE ARREST Alfred Raymond Loy was arrested last week at his place of employment on Giapel Hill road, Johnsburg, by FBI agents, for alleged unlawful flight to avoid prosecution through a warrant issued by the U.S. commissioner in Milwaukee, Wis., in May of this year. He was taken before the U.S. Commissioner in Chicago an then returned to Kenosha county to stand trial for the robbery. teams had decided to get down to business and get some goals. The seniors took possession of the ball and dribbled down the field. Kathy Doran was there and slipped it thru for the goal. The juniors now had to get at least one goal to stay in the game. For the rest of the game it was one fierce battle for the ball. Both teams played their best. The juniors really put up a fight--up to the last moment. As the whistle sounded ending t h e game--the juniors last attempt failed. The seniors came out victorious. finally beating their Junior rivals, to gain tho G.A.A. Hockey All-Star title.
