Ray Page was named Bee Keepers secretary at a meeting Dec. 11 called at the court house, Woodstock. The object of this organization is to better serve the interest of the bee kee$>ers of the county. Miss Katherine Walsh appeared on a program given by the Woman's club at the Beth* any Lutheran church at Crystal Lake and delighted the audience with her readings fr^m "Rebecca of SunnybrotSk Farm" and one of the O'Ifprt-. r y s t o r i e s , " O c t o b e r a n d June". Miss Walsh is a promising student of Miss Merle Gale Smith, an expression teacher of Elgin. The house being constructed by H. J. Schaeffer on Main street will soon be enclosed. This will be a two story frame house in the old Colonial style. A most unusual sight in this part of the country is a banana tree in blossom but such a sight may now be seen at Ringwood. The tree is owned by Miss Bigelow. The Kiwanis club have erected a beautiful lighted Christmas tree on the corner of Elyin road and Waukegan street. While doing some trading in Welter's store at Ringwood one" evening Amos Smith had the misfortune to fall through a trap door to the basement below. Miss Alma Justen entertained the Merry-Go-Round club at her home. Twenty-Five Years Ago (Taken from the files of 'free. 18, 1941) . We are hearing and reading about a meeting of minds about the draft. The people taking part are professors and statesmen. Each one offers his ideas, but not one concentrates on why we have no peace on earth. Every yeat the situation gets worse. So we encourage the making of weapons to kill more .and quicker. At the present time the atom bomb threatens to put us all off of this planet, for all time. "I have a solution. Why not see to it that all of these leaders who are dissatisfied fight it out in a ring like the prize fighters do and I can assure you there will be no more ~wars, anywhere. Another comment --The Bible says 'It'came to pass that the King Augustas decreed that every one has to pay taxes. The only change, there is more and more taxes. On the night that the Savior was bojgi his mother was on her way TO pay the taxes. "Professors, statesmen, all of you who have the opportunity to state your thoughts, reverse your thoughts and see what can be done. When human belrigs are killed or maimed it doesn't make any difference if it is North Viet DECEMBER 22, 1966 - MCHENRY PLAINDEALER - PAGE7, SECTION 3 Nam or South Viet Nam. In rilAF reality-the ten commandments that every religion is guided by says, "Thou/shalt Not Kill. "We have improved our minds but not our ways. We only have graduated from the bow and arrow to atom bombs. Citizens, think this over and write, to your leaders. Let's take the fiction out of this 'l>eace on earth' and make i1 "a- reality. Then this wish for a Merry Christmas will be a fact not fiction. "Mrs. Nettie Sarley "Lakemoor" ISSUED CHARTER The office of Secretary of State Paul Powell has issued a charter to Tri-County Accounts, Inc., to engage in the business of collecting, buying, selling and dealing in current and delinquent accounts. Proposal In Honduras, the aromatic little brown cocoa bean has been the symbol of romance for centuries. There, when a Honduran Indian wishes to propose marriage, Jie offers the lady a gift of epeaa beans. If she "accepts it/f^pans their engagement can be announced. THE CHURCH FOR ALU ALL FOR THE CHURCH The Church ii the greatest factor on earth for the building of character and good citizenship. It is a storehouse of spiritual values. Without a strong Church, neither democracy nor civilization can survive. There are four sound reasons why every person should attend services regularly and support the Church. They are: (1) For his own sake. (2) For hia children's sake. (3) For the sake of his community and nation. '(*) For the sake of the Church itself, "which needs his moral and material support Plan to go to church regularly and read your Bible daily. ittau of tfje §?ears( For his earnest devotion to a duty that is everyone's . . .
