TALLMAN Miss Sharon Ann Bruno, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Bruno of 4 Acorn lane, Lake-in-the-Hills, Algonquin, became the bride of Mr. Michael R. Tallman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard J. Tallman of 4910 N. Pistakee drive, McHenry, in a lovely ceremony performed at St. John the Baptist church, Johnsburg, Saturday, Jan. 20. Rev. Dording," pastor, officiated at the 1 o'clock nuptial rite. Jeffrey Smith Was organist for the two soloist?, Philip and Richard Schoen. The altars were decorated With bodquets of white snapdragons and mums. The pretty bride woilf a full length gown of pea J de soie, styled with long sleeves, semi-empire, with bodice embroidered with imported French beading and train of peau de soie attached at the waist. A shoulder length veil of silk illusion fell from a toque, made of peau de soie and embroidered with beads. Her corsage consisted pf two cymbidium orchids withstephanotis, ^ Mrs. Carol Kunz of McHenry acted as maid of honor > for her sister, and bridesmaids were Miss Verna Ehlers of Maple Park, Mrs. Sue Freeman of Notre Dame, Ind., and Miss Linda Holthaus of Harvard. All were attired similarly in dresses of medium pink rayon and acetate. They had bouquets of .purple asters and pink mums. Bernard Tallman, Jr., of McHenry, brother of the groom served as best man. Groomsmen were William Bruno, Jr., and Gerard Spence, Jr., of Algonquin and Edward Fudala of Chicago. Robin Kunz acted as flower girl and Robie Kunz was ring bearer. Both are from McHenry. Mrs. Bruno • selected for her daughter's wedding an Italian knit suit in purple, with pink accessories. The groom's mother chose a black lace dress, A reception followed at Tomasello's in Johnsburg for 100 guests. Both young people are graduates of Marian Central high school and both are presently attending Northern 111- . inois university. They will make their home in DeKalb. FEBRUARY 13 O.E.S. The regular monthly meeting of the Valley View Girl Scouts committee members was held at St. Patrick's church. Mrs. Stuart Engh, chairman announced the dates for, cookie orders to be taken as Feb. 15 to Feb. 22. Leaders are reminded that names of all troop cookie chairmen must be turned over to Mrs. J. Althoff immediately. The regular summer day camp will be June 10 to June 15, with Camp Lewis as the site. The mother-daughter tea was announced for Girl Scout Sunday, March 10. There will be more news on this event later. The holiday party at the Country club was much fun, thanks to Mrs. Frank Gans, who planned the event. Year pins were passed to many members, adding up to 105 years of service: twenty years, Mrs. F. Graduation And Marriage In Miss Francke's Plans Deborah Anne Francke was honored at the convocation program Sunday, Jan. 21, in the University of Illinois, Urbana. She will receive her bachelor of science degree, majoring in archeology, in the February graduating class. M ss Francke has completed her studies in three and one-hialf years. Among those attending were Mrs. Benjamin Francke, Jr., daughter, Katherine; her mother, Mrs. William Praed, of Chicago; Joseph DeMarco, Jr., and Miss Francke's fiance, Sinan Jawad, of Bagdad and Springfield, Mrs. Benjamin Francke, Sr., was unable to attend because of illness. Deborah Anne, daughter of Betty. Francke and the late Benjamin Francke, wilf be married to Mr. Jawad Saturday, Jan. 27 in the Community Methodist church. Recent Marriage Of David Miller Is Announced Announcement has been made of the recent wedding of Michele Kennedy and David Miller, which took place in November at the Seventh-Day Adventist church, Pleasant Hill, Calif. Following a three-week honeymoon trip to Chicago, the young couple were at home in Walnut Creek, Calif. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Dorothy Miller of Mi- Henry, presently employed by an airline company in Oakland. Mrs. Bierman, leader of Troop 320, told of the wonderful time had by all Jan. 12 to 14 at Chapman Hills. They enjoyed tobogganing and also a trip to the Quaker Oats Research Farm at Barrington. On Jan. 31, Troop 88 will have investitures. Badges will be given out and the girls are urged to bring their parents. Anyone not receiving their pin may contact Mrs. Engh. SHOP IN MCHENRY Lake YMCA Plans Family Night , On Saturday The Lake Region YMCA will hold its first family night of the 1968 season on Saturday, Jan. 27, when it encourages every family member unit residing in the service area to join tosether for an outing at the Elgin YMCA for an evening of family planned gym and swim activities. T!ie evening's activities will begin at 6:15 p.m. and conclude by 8:30 p.m. All family members may participate with their boys and girls who are two years old and 19. Facilities are available for taking part in a variety of gym activities and for using the pool] facilities. Ordinarily swim activities are available to family members of the Lake Region YMCA on Monday at the Northwest Suburban YMCA and for gym and swim activities on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday nigtits at the Elgin YMCA; however, it is felt that for this particular evening it .would be especially enjoyable if as many families as- possible get together as a group to enjoy the fellowship of meeting others and becoming better acquainted. Future plans for family programs include potlucks, tobogganing, and ice skating* Presentation of family membership cards and paying of a small fee for the evening are the requirements for participation in the evening's fun and relaxation. OnSaturday, Jan. 27 they will observe their sixty-second wedding anniversary. The following day, they will enjoy dinner in a Lake Zurich restaurant with four of their children and their families.
