Her friends had gathered at the invitation of her daughter, Mrs. Arlene Freund, and Mrs. Barb Bitterman to wish her Bon Voyage on her trip to Europe where she v/111 visit the shrines at Lourdes, France, and Our Lady of Fatima, Portugal, and the Vatican at Rome. She left Feb. 8 and was accompanied by Mrs. Roy Thompson, Sr., and they expect to be gone three weeks. VEHICLE STICKERS Time is running out for the residents of Lakemoor who haven't purchased their 1968 vehicle stickers for their car or truck. The deadline is tomorrow, Thursday, Feb. 15, to have the vehicle sticker on your car or truck. You still have time to purchase your vehicle sticker from Pat Morrison. Pat lives at 119 Valley View. DOG LICENSE You can also purchase your 1968 dog license from Pat Morrison. You must show your dog's current rabies certificate in order to purchase the license. AUXILIARY NEWS The Woman's auxiliary held its monthly meeting Monday, Feb. 5. Pearle Stineman was chairman of the meeting in the absence of president Lee Bassi. It was decided to have arummage sale in May. Hostesses for the February meeting were Marion Leske and Marylyn Lo- PresH. The next monthly meeting will be held Monday, March 4. Booby prize went to Nettie Sarley. MOTHERS MARCH OF DIMES Those who went out for the Mothers March of Dimes here in Lilymoor were Alma Hueckstaedt and Mary Schuerr. WONDERFUL SURPRISE Alyce Kowal has been floating on cloud nine since she got to talk to her son, Ed, who is in the Navy and is stationed over in Vietnam. It was made possible for Alyce and Ed to talk to each other by way of short wave radio from Oklahoma. Ed has been in the Navy since August of 1964. In talking with some of the parents there are several of our boys from Lakemoor and Lilymoor who are now stationed over in Vietnam. ANNIVERSARY Greetings go to Jim and Andrea Johnson who celebrated their fifteenth wedding anniversary Tuesday, Feb. 6. COAL VALUE HIGH The value of minerals produced in Illinois during 1967 totaled an estimated $641 million, according to information released by the Illinois State Geological Survey. This is the second highest annual value on record for mineral production in Illinois. The all-time high value was established in 1966 when final figures totaled $644 million.' Muriel Gilmore, -' Publicity chairman CALL CONFERENCE The Illinois Sanitary Water board, meeting in Springfield last week, authorized its members and technical secretary to participate in the Four-State Lake Michigan conference called by Interior Secretary Stewart Udall at the request of Gov, Otto Kemer. The conference, Wednesday, Jan. 31, in Chicago, was to consider matters pertaining to the pollution of Lake Michigan and its tributary basin. Participants included the Illinois Sanitary Water board, Indiana Stream Pollution Control board, Wisconsin Department of Resources Development and the Michigan Water Resources commission, la other actions, the board requested the Attorney General to seek penalties in the amount of $600 from the Pana Refining Co., Pana, for the continued oil pollution of Coal Creek.
