J .jA McHenry man, Arthur Hop- |>e, was elected president of the McHenry county farm bureau at a meeting'of the directors. Two autos carrying defense workers collided Monday morning on Route 120 near the intersection of Route 12 at Volo. Cuts and bruises of the six men who suffered these minor injuries were treated. The cars were driven by Richard Rossman and Eugene J. Hughes, both of McHenry. Lt. Lee Gladstone, son of the Maurice Gladstones, and his wife visited friends here this week when he received a three day furlough before reporting to Walter Reed hospital in Washington, D.C. for further medical training." Following eight weeks of training there, he will return to Camp Hale, Colo., where he has been serving with the ski troops this winter. St. Mary's Catholic churchat Fremont Center was the scene of a beautiful winter wedding Feb. 8 when Miss Dianne Tony an, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Tonyan, became the bride of Mr. Robert A. Schoenbeck of Hebron. Rev. Fr. Burke officiated the ceremony. ^Sp/3 Richard Wohlert, who has been stationed at Fort Polk, La., is enroute to Korea for a term of duty. Dr. John Jameson of San Antonio, Texas, spent a few days recently in the home of Dr. and Mrs. J.E. Sayler. Miss Lois Claybaugh of McHenry became the bride of Mr. Edward J. Zender, Jr., in a lovely wedding ceremony Feb. 8 in St. Patrick's Catholic church, McHenry. Rev. Fr. William Collins officiated at the service. Mrs. Loretta Homo of West Shore Beach, McCullom Lake, and Mrs. Nancy Bowman of Ringwood have accepted the chairmanship of the 1958 Heart Fund Drive. Four fires in the McHenry area, none of them too serious, were kept under control in the sub zero temperatures of the wgffifby; volunteergipeiipqn from the local district. They occurred at the Clinton Martin farm north west of the city, Ewell's Ringwell farm north west of Ringwood, LeVande residence in Lakemoor and the Sam Gillis home. Kiwanis Hosts Belvidere Club Wonder Lake Kiwanis club traveled to McHenry for a noon inter-club and then entertained the Belvidere club at the evening meeting. March 23, will be an active day with the annual bowling banquet, ladies day and the Boy Scout trip to the Wagon Wheel. Ward Ehredt is Scout representative. The membership drive is in full gear with the Friendly Fellows already boasting of victory. The Feb. 19 program was presented by Carl Hobbit, owner of the Credit Bureau of McHenry county. Mr Hobbit gave an excellent history of credit, and credit reporting. The first credit bureau was established in 1704, in Scotland, and interestingly in 1700, 5 percent was charged as a carrying charge. Mr. Hobbit discussed credit accounts and their variations up to the present bank credit cards.
