FRI^1 MAR. 1, 1?68 - PLAINDEALER - PG. 9 9ILL6M • I t EVE LEVESQUE WONDER LAKE MAN INJURED IN HIT, BUN ACCIDENT A Residents were alarmed to hear of the brut&l hit and run accident which occurred Saturday night, about 9:30. The victim, found lying on the north side of the blacktop, across from the Ray Murphy home was identified as Robert Kiddell, 45, of Wonder Lake. He was found in an unconscious state by Chief Earl Murray who was on routine patrol. At just about the same moment, Ron Malcolm, i who was traveling east, noticed the accident, also, and stopped to lend assistance. Chief Murray radioed for an : ambulance and the victim was ; rushed to McHenry hospital where his condition was listed as critical. He was placed in the intensive care unit. Because of the position of the % accident, it was not determined whether investigations would fall to the local police or if it was a county issue, so both de- : partments combined their f efforts. Those taking part were Chief Murray, Sgt.KenLoesch, Sheriff John Carroll and deputies Matt Schalz and Bob Crabtree. They found no skid marks |or other clues at the scene of ' the accident to help identify the - motorist who could have com- V fitted such a heinous act. Elma and Earl Nelson were ^ especially stunned because they have known the victim and his ' wife, June, for many year, and socialized together when both h couples lived in Chicago. The Kiddells live in Wonder I Lake with their five children, Donna, Laura, Karen, Kathy • and Robert. i I FORMER CLUB PRESIDENT | SUCCUMBS SUNDAY Louise B. She was slated to be auctioneer for a recent white elephant sale, given by the Ladies of the Lake, but had to give up the task because she was in the hospital. Services were held last Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Peter Justen & Son funeral home with 385-4141 burial in Woodland cemetery. The Rev. FLORIDA HIATUS Gladys and Mike Wowczuk returned home last Saturday after a delightful two week visit in Hollywood, Fla., with Gladie's mom and dad, the Howard Maxwells. They left our shores Feb. 9 and made the 1400 mile trip in two days. During their stay, their visit was not marred by any kind of bad weather. They spent the time swimming in the ocean and visiting all the wonderful sights in the area. A £«*! 1 the hoftie of Ann and Bob Zafuv former residents, who now live in Pompano Beach. Mr. Maxwell underwent surgery while the couple was in the south, and Gladys was able to give assistance to her mother, during the time. The two drove leisurely home along the West coast and paused for two days at the fabulous Sanibel Island, between Ft. Meyers and Naples. The area is noted for having beautiful sea shells and the Wowcfeuks brought many of them home for souvenirs. R was a relaxing time for Mike who recently underwent the ordeal of losing his mother in San Diego. He was practically commuting to the West Coast in order to spend time with her. She died last December, shortly before Christmas and Mike was with her at the end. For a short period of time, Mrs. Anna Wowczuk, lived in the village, next door to Gladys and Mike. ADDRESS LEGION AUXILIARY In her shy manner, but projecting a great deal of charm, Miss Ivonne Diaz of Santiago, Chile, addressed members of the American Legion Auxiliary, a" week ago Monday night. She was invited for the appearance by Mrs. Bobbie Carroll. The women graciously put the lovely young lady at. ease and she was able to tell them about her home, her family, how schools are operated in Chile, such as attending classes' six days a week and from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m0 weekdays ana until 3:30 on Saturdays. The women asked questions and Ivonne answered in her English which is improving tremendously. At the end of her address, she was presented with a beautiful gold bracelet which featured colored drop stones. Ivonne's "sister", DeeDee Levesque, aided where translation was necessary. BOWLING Two men and one woman are needed to complete the local bowling teams and if interested please call Gerry Jensen at 385-3461. If you were never to write a letter you would lose touch with people who mean a great deal to you. By the same token, if you never were to go to church, you would fail to keep the fabric of your faith woven tight and strong. True, you might still believe firmly in God, but the affirmation and continued growth of this faith requires worship in His presence and in His house. Thinking about a friend isn't the same thing as writing a letter to him -- wanting to be in that person's presence. Believing in God isn't the same as professing that belief by attending church regularly. Copyright 1968 Keister Advertising Service, Inc. Strasburg, Va.
