Through action by Assistant Supervisor Edward Buss of McHenry last Tuesday, progress was made toward resolving the court house issue. Buss suggested a vote on the fairgrounds property which resulted in a 13 to 11 favorable response. The matter will now go before the Building commission, which is expected to give its stamp of approval since only one site is being offered for consideration. This would mean that the proposition will be placed on the ballot next November. Because the site is within the city limits of the county seat, only a simple majority is required for passage. By unanimous vote, Walter Dfj.in of McHenry was elected to his second year as chairman of the board. In other action, the board approved requesting the state to make application to the Department of Housing and Urban Development for Urban Planning Assistance of the federal government, asking aid in a continuing plan for the county. The total cost of the program was set at not more than $45,-" 000, of which the county's share would not exceed $15,000 and theremainder to be provided by the government. A population projection gives McHenry county an eventual total of $300,000. TAX BREAKDOWN Assistant Supervisor Buss asked for a breakdown on taxes collected, suggesting that this be provided to taxpayers along with their annual bill, as done in some other counties. Treasurer Cal Skinner explained that the process, without a computer, would be costly if broken down for each taxpayer, and under any otherplantoo time-consuming at this late date.
