More communities are being served as the medical staff becomes larger. 4. Burgeoning population is swelling McHenry county's citizenry; it now totals 102,000, Sheriff John Carroll said this week. McHenry hospital studies indicate population will double here within the next ten years. PLAN AHEAD "We feel we must have facilities to take care of the increased population three to five years from today," said Freund<, Last week McHenry hospital was the site of a tour by Woman's auxiliary members of District 2, and the visitors were impressed with the intensive care unit, the arrangement for ambulatory care, and the participation of the auxiliary in hospital's success through day-to-day responsibilities. As the board visualizes it now, the expansion will encompass three things: 1. Adding two floors to the main three -story building to provide about 100 additional beds for medical and surgical short - term patients (13,000 square feet per floor). 2. Adding an additional second floor level to the one-story pavilion (Bollman Pavilion) used as an ambulatory care unit. Second floor addition would be designed as an extended care facility with 25 beds (6,400 square feet). At present there is rib approved extended care facility in McHenry county. 3. Extension and expansion of present emergency and operating room facilities and the provision of outpatient treatment and observation rooms (4,000 square feet). Talking to the group about how emergencies are handled, Mrs. Josephine Peterson, R.N. director of nursing services, explained how two types are handled - an emergency that starts within the hospital and an emergency that comes by ambulance, car or on foot and requires swift help. „ G OODjfvEAR MERBOLT 4 Ply Nylon Cord Tires 6.50 x 13 Tubeless blackwall plus $1.81 Fed.
