CELEBRATE 25TH ANNIVERSARY Sam and Betty Lamont, Indian Ridge, celebrated their silver anniversary with an open house buffet supper, Saturday Sept. 14 at the L aloe view Inn, Wonder Center. The actual date is Sept. 17, 1943. The Lamonts were married in Scotland and have two children, Sam, Jr., and Heather. HOSPITALIZED Ernie Vogt, Wonder Center, has been a patient at McHenry hospital but was expected home over the weekend. Also, Mrs. Myrtle Schwartz was a patient at Woodstock hospital this past week. WESLEY CARLSON • Wesley Carlson, new manager at the McHenry Jewel Tea store comes to McHenry with a long background of service to the company. ... He was born in Lombard and later moved to Barrington. Prior to becoming employed by Jewel he attended Elgin Community college. : Mr. Carlson began his association with the company in the Barrington store and worked in various suburban stores as produce manager and assistant manager. His first store manager was West Rogers Park and he also served in this capacity in Norwood Park, Skokie and Linconwood. He came to McHenry from the Lincolnwood Plaza shopping center. - In his last location, Mr. Carlson was active in the distributive education program with Mather high school. He assisted in fund raising programs among various groups. : He lives in Cary with his wife Gloria, a son, Scott, 3, and 3 daughter, Anne, 1 year. DRIVER KILLED Mrs. Marion L. Null, 59, of Genoa City, Wis., was killed at 8:20 Tuesday evening when her auto rolled over west of Hebron on Rt. 173. A passenger, Dwight Hoskins of Sulpher, La., was seriously injured. Mrs. Null's death was the thirtieth fatatlity in the county this year. KILLED ON HIGHWAY An unidentified man sitting in the middle of UJS. 20, east of Union road, was struck and killed at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday by Lowell Crawford of Janesville, Wis., who reported to state police. 1961 car registrations showed 7.4 million American families with more than one car. JOHN L. EMRICH Petty Officer 1st Class USN John L. Emrich, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Emrich, Elgin, was recently appointed first chair, solo cornetist with the United States Navy Band, Washington, D.C. Lt. Com. Anthony A. Mitchel USN is the director. Petty Officer Emrich started his music career at the age of 7 and was active in the Elgin public schools? music organizations. He attended North Central college in Naperville. Upon completion of his recruit training, he was chosen honor man of his company. He was also honor man of his class when he graduated from the Navy's music school in Washington D.C, Emrich was sent on a good will tour to Africa and has played concerts in South America, Italy, Spain and on a tour of duty with the 6th fleet aboard the USS Albany, played at the Cannes Music Festival in France. A soloists with the Great Lakes Training center band at the start of his second enlistment, he was sent to Washington to become a member of the US Navy band. John was featured as an English post horn soloist on a tour of cities in the eastern and midwestern states in 1967. People in this area will remember the concert presented in Lake Zurich. He and his wife, Lois, have one child, a son, and they reside in Maryland. He is the brother of Mrs. C.D. (Sally) Pierce of Woodstock and Mrs. Weg (Peg- „gy) ffiomas of McHenry. ~-ilrs. (Justen) Weideman returned recently from Hawaii where she spent a week with her husband, John Weideman, where he was vacationing from his Navy duties in Vietnam. Mrs. Richard Rapp and sons, Steve and Gary, of Rockfard were Sunday visitors inthe Fred Bienapfl home and dinner guests there on Tuesday were Mr. and Mrs. Edward Hauner, Mrs. Clara Wright and Mrs. Martha Thiel. Miss Clara Miller spent the week as the guest of Mrs. Ida Quinlan in Park Ridge. Miss Elsie Anderson of Chicago spent a few days this week in the home of her sister, Mrs. Ben Miller. Miss Carol Heuser of Chicago visited her grandmother, Mrs. Helen Heuser, a few days last week. Mrs. Annabel Aicher and brother, Leo Heimer, visited the Paul Bickler family in their new home in Park Ridge Saturday. Mrs. Ben Miller has returned from a two weeks visit inthe home of her daughter, Mrs. Walter Peterson, in Hastings, Minn. William Althoff was in Chicago a few days this week where he attended a meeting of the high court of the Catholic Order of Foresters. Doherty and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Weingart spent Sunday in the Peter Weingart home in Arlington Heights where they helped their granddaughter, Lori Weingart, celebrate her eleventh birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Nick Adams, Mrs. Elizabeth Thompson and Mrs. Kathryn Worts were Sunday visitors in the John Thompson home in Kansasville, Wis. INVESTIGATED Three accidents have investigated in the past week by local police. Lawrence R. Rasmussen of m. 1, Hartford, Wis., told authorities he stopped in the east - bound lane on W. Mill street to make a left turn onto the driveway. His trailer was extended too far to permit a turn so he walked to the rear and opened the sliders on the trailer. As he stepped back in the truck, Clifford T. Morris of Orchard drive, McHenry drove up behind. Rasmussen flailed to see the other auto and lacked to shorten the distance between cab and trailer. When sliders locked, the whole unit moved back and struck the other vehicle. Gayle E. Anderson of W. Willow lane, McHenry, had made a left turn from east to north on N.
