The Urban Bauers, the Roland Bauers, the Harry Lundys, the Jerry Hogans, the John Hogans, John and Ila Hogan, the Mike Hogans, the Tom Parsleys the George Blake s, the Dave Zanks, the A1 Freunds, the Bob Brennans, the A1 Aherns, the Leonard Ackermans, the Harry Kings and the Sigurd Jacobsens all joined in on the celebrating. CARD CLUB The Card club met in the home of Mrs. Flora Carr on Wednesday, May 22, with Mrs. Stanek, high and Vivian Jackson with low. HAS DEMONSTRATION Ila Hogan entertained a group of ladies at a demonstration held in her home on Tuesday morning. Coffee was served to all. COMMUNITY PICNIC A SUCCESS Despite the rather damp weather on Sunday, May 26, a large 653-9043 group of families turned out for the indoor picnic, held in the school. Games were played fol- \ lowing the pot-luck dinner. The games included one for the adults - Egg throwing! Yep, adults threw eggs (raw) at each other. Poor person who didn't know how to catch them got rather messed up. They sure did have an awful messy lot of fun tho. All enjoyed it. The Floyd Howtens, the Chuck Brockens, the John Lanways, and the Charlie Brennans supplied cases of pop for the picnic. Thanks to all. And thanks to president Doris Low, for her time spent on the activities of the year's events on community club. More work goes into this than people think, and Doris and officers did a good job. GIRL SCOUT NEWS May 22, the Girl Scout meeting was called to order at 3:45 p.m. at the school house. The pledge and the girl scout promise were then said by all. We did badge work and discussed the camping trips. Later we practiced marching in unison for the Memorial Day parade. Candy Bebber played the piano for our enjoyment. RINGWOOD - WONDER LAKE GIRL SCOUTS NO. 402 On May 30, at 10:30 a.m. the Girl Scout Troop 402 participated in the Wonder Lake Memorial Day Parade. I wish all the parents had been there to see how proudly the girls marched and how well they kept step. You would have been proud. Those who took part were Karen Lanway, troop flag bearer with Vickie Sumner color guard and Pam Jones, American flag with Gayle Garn as guard. Betty Ann Heard, secretary, read thank you notes from the National home in Eaton Rapids for the cash donation made toward canned foods, from Marge Mayer for get-well wishes and for serving the all sports banquet honoring the athletic department and the cheerleaders at the McHenry high school. Mary Kuemmel, Hospital chairman, reported that she had received a thank-you note from Downey Veterans hospital for the canteen books which were distributed to the men at the April visit to the hospital and for serving cupcakes, fruit and candy to the men at that time. Kathy Fuhler accompanied Mary on her visit to the hospital. Kathy has received a pin in recognition of 150 hours service at the hospital. Congratulations to you, Kathy, from all of us. Sunshine chairman Florence weeks with her folks, Doris and Walt, and has now returned to attend June classes. Ila Hogan, Mary Sonne maker and children spent Thursday near Dundee. Mary and the kids are scheduled to leave this weekend after spending the past two months with her folks, John and Ila Hogan. Her husband has been transfered to Japan for the next three years, and the family will fly to California, where Earl will meet them and after a few days sightseeing there, will fly to Japan to make their home for the next few years. The youngsters have been attending Ringwood school during their stay here. Bob Brennan was surprised on Saturday night, when neighbors, Peg and John Scharf, staged a surprise card playing evening in honor of his birthday, which was on May 24. Mrs. L.E. Hawley has been visited by many friends and neighbors these past few weeks while recovering from her eye surgery, and Sunday, Ed Hawley and Mrs. Floyd Howe of Crystal Lake drove up and took them out to dinner in Crystal Lake. So nice to see you coming along so nicely. J.C. Pearson is doing real good at home after his recent surgery while confined to the hospital. Friends and neighbors have been calling on him this past week to help pass the time and to visit. On Thursday, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Brennan and girls were dinner guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Phelps Saunders in Sycamore. Vi Abbink, Marine festival, queen contest chairman reported that the contest will be held on June 12 at the clubhouse. George Pedersen has been asked to be the hair consultant for the training period and Lavonn Dowhin and Patty Bittermann will assist the girls with their hair styles the evening of the contest. The Ladies auxiliary to VFW Department of Illinois convention will be held in Chicago at the Sherman hotel. The dates are June '20 to 23 inclusive. Delegates appointed to attend the convention for our auxiliary are Ethel Groth, Marge Moreth, Dora Krocker, Mary Kuemmel and Gerry Breede. Gerry Breede reported that the Cub Scout Pack^which is sponsored by tW^aux|l?ary had won a blue ribbon aTthe Scout- O-Rama which was held in Woodstock. A request was made by Gerry Breede for used ladies' purses and jewelry in usable condition; also hankies and unused lipsticks which will be forwarded to Rep.
