< Ukelahs Carole Humann 385-1605 CLUB MOLDS c SUCCESSFUL SMORGASBORD Thanks to an awful lot of people the smorgasbord was a success again as usual. From the gals who worked so hard in the kitchen, to the gals who prepared the scrumptuous dishes, to the people who bought tickets and came to partake of the feast. Such an affair is a flop with any one of those com-, ponents in short supply. But again this was a big success. Any dishes which haven't been returned by this time can be picked up at Maureen Johnson's homo on Ramble Road. Her phone number is 385-6504. The Woman's Club takes a short vacation now and will resume meetings in September. All newcomers to the subdivision are especially welcome to attend. Roy Meineke will have a cake on that day too. Joe Meyer will celebrate his fourteenth birthday on June 23. The Leopold twins, Jill and Julie, will celebrate their very first birthday on June 24 with proper fanfare. John Koch will be thirteen and Susan Wautelet makes it an even ten on June 25. David Cygan will have eight candles on his cake and voters Gunther Borchert, Joan Burmann and Maureen Johnson aren't telling. Best wishes to all of them on their special day. ANNIVERSARY WALTZ June 23 is the big day for Mr. arid-Mrs. John Thilges who will be celebrating 47 years of matrimony. Dorothy and Bill Humphries chalk up thirty-two years of togetherness on June 24 and Louise and Jim Mc- Enery celebrate 42 years. On June 26 Dorothy and Roy Meineke will celebrate their silver wedding anniversary with Helen and Ralph Stippick who will have an even twenty to their credit. Ivy and Stan Lezak will take time out from their busy day to celebrate their twenty-six years of marriage. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Michel take the grand pidze for the week though with fifty-one years of marriage on June 27. The grand total of years together of all these nice people is 243 and whoever said that marriages don't last any more! Our congratulations and best wishes to each and every one of you. BOY SCOUT TROOP 459 June 11. we opened our meeting inside with the pledge, the scout oath, and laws, Mr. Biggerstaff told us about a trip for four scouts to Boulder Junction, Wis. LAKELAND MERRY MAKERS 4-H CLUB You're late, you're late, for a very important 4-H year. Too late to join this year, but in September you can join in the fun. Monday, june 10, we met at 6:30 outside the community house. Everyone got together and we had baseball practice until 7. ^ This meeting wasn't any ordinary meeting, our club went on a project tour. A project tour is a tour where all the members meet, then pile into cars and go to the houses of the members who cannot bring their project to the community house. For instance, dairying; gardening, room improvement, automobile, dog care, rabbit care or ducks, etc. About 7 o'clock we left on the project tour. Our first step was at the Erber home, except Tom Erber wasn't home so off we went down the black top road. Our second stop was at the Johnson home. Randy Johnson gave a demonstration on gardening. Third stop was the Curran home. Carol Curran gave a talk on dairying and gardening. Jimmy Curran wasn't home so we left for the community house where we arrived about 8 o'clock. We gave other talks and demonstrations for the rest of the time. Scot Strange gave a talk on safety. Larry Fergen gave a demonstration on mosaics,Shawn Strange gave a talk on sunburns, Kevin Schultz gave a demonstration on woodwork. Dianne Muskovin gave a talk on shock, Shawn Strange gave a demonstration on peanut butter drop cookies. Lori Backhaus gave a talk on pink eye disease. Sharee Holas gave a demonstration on how to set a table. Collen Godina gave a demonstration on knitting. Lori Backhaus gave a (lemonstration on peanut butter /drop cookies. Colleen Godina gave a talk on athlete's foot and that ended the demonstrations for this meeting. Next Tuesday, June 19, we will have a baking meeting. Mpnday, June 24, is our next 4-H meeting. A flyup ceremony was held with Cindy Braun, Kelly Flannigan, Meg Humann, Judy Johnson, Cathy Lauer, Tammy LeOfie, Amy Roslo, Tammy Rybak, Tammy Strange, and Susie Wickenkamp receiving their gold fly-up wings which are to be sewn on their Junior badge sash. All the girls in the troop received their one year pins. Ice cream was served for refreshments and Linda Humph* les was the hostess and served brownies. After singing the "Smile" song the meeting ended with the magic tunnel. The fly-ups were also invited to a Scouts Own by their sister troop 320 the following evening. STROLLING THROUGH THE PARK It really should be no surprise, but almost everyone around here has at least one new neighbor and we wish to welcome all newcomers and hope that they will be happy in our community. I would appreciate a call if you know somebody new so that we can welcome them and also add them to our growing birthday list. First we wou}d~like-to welcome the George Kotalik family who have recently moved into their new residence at Meadow Lane and Home avenue. The Edmund Felmuth family has moved from Pell Lake to their new home on Lakewood. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Palmenteri and their two children have just moved into the Creutz home on Pleasant avenye. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Norton and their children, Dennis and Denice, came to Parkway avenue from Lake Geneva in April , but it's never too late to say hi! The Robert Doyle family has been living on Shore drive since last October and we take this opportunity to welcome them. Mrs. Tracy has welcomed her daughter*"-in-law Mrs. Robert Tracy and four children while Bob, who is a career officer in the Air Force, is serving in JapanJ Mr..and Mrs. Gaylord Windross is Mrs. Bailey's ihother so it's family reunion time. The list continues, but we don't have any further information but sure would like to extend the welcome mat to all our new residents and hope that we can be of help to any of them. Doug Funk who got his start in Little League with our Braves team had his picture in a newspaper along with his Babe Ruth League team from Crystal Lake for pitching sixteen strike-outs out of twenty-one in a recent game. Continuing good luck to him The Koehls attended a wedding reception in Lakemoor last Saturday for Kathy and Michael Stein. We bid farewell and all that jazz to Gene and Chris Foszcz and all the girls and the little guy as they move to their new home in Lake Villa. Hopefully they'll be around to visit in the near future. This being graduation month we can't let It go by without mentioning some of the graduation doings. W3 inadvertently left Dave Wagner off the graduates list last week but wish him success anyhow, now. He was honored at a party given at home^aftj the ceiWnonies on Thursday evening. He was in the Junior high class. Greg Bartos bad a party for graduation witn dinner for thirty-five people on Sunday. A party was held at the community house last w^k for the entire graduating cla&s of St. Patrick' school / Dennis Druml was the guest of honor at a party held on Friday evening after the graduation ceremonies for McHenry high school. On Sunday more partying was done with friends and relatives making the scene. Mick Dauriovand Jim Daurio shared the honors with Mick graduating from McHenry and Jim from St. Patrick's with a party for both with friends and relatives coming to honorthem. Mick entertained friends after the ceremonies on Friday night. George Piccolo was honored at a party given by his folks on Saturday. .John Zimnv was treated to FRL, JUNE 21, 1968 - PLAINDEALER - PG. t./- a graduation blast on Sunday? Cathy Humann entertained thirty-four people for a party on Saturday evening after the St. Patrick's ceremonies. A double party was held for Ronny and Danny Kamp on Sunday for more than 100 people. Danny's band played for the dancers. Members of the band were Dave Guzzardo, Duane Fair, Rick Glos and their mentor, Jack Slaughter. Ronny grad-' uated from St. Mary's and Dan graduated from MariaruB€ntral. VISITS CAMPUS Students who will be incor freshmen in the College of Engineering at Iowa State university in September have been attending orientation meetings on the campus this week. The two day sessions were devoted to aptitude and placement tests, visits with counselors and planning class schedules for the fall quarter.
