Lotus Country Woman's club held its second meeting of the year at the home of Mrs. Frank Moravac in Richmond with Mrs. John Mc- Msh as co-hostess. A oneo'clock luncheon was served to b eighteen members and two sts. Beulah KarIs,president ed the meeting to order. Rerts were read and Mrs. Karat Olson read a thank-you from Mrs. William Shotliff JOT the gift of flowers from the c&ub while she was a patient in A^VIcHenry hospital. The club vetoed to continue to sponsor the ^'4-H" Girls and voted to con- c^a^ ibute $--5 0 to Sp--rin^g Grove elqs ementary school to purchase library books. The program was given by Mrs. Harriet Olson's daughter, Mrs. Craig Johnson, who was kind enough to come all the way from Aurora to show slides of Israel taken by her husband while there on a business trip. They were very educational and interesting. In appreciation a gift was presentedto Mrs. Johnson. The Nov. 20 meeting will be a trip to a club at Lake Geneva with luncheon and a tour of the club. Members of the Lotus club tfho attended the McHenry County Federation meeting at Harvard on Oct. 9 were Mrs. Gordon Sergant, president, who conducted the meeting, Mrs. Frank Heinemen, secretary, Mrs. E Buesseler, Mrs. William Krueger and Mrs. Russell Rudolph. Mrs. Harold Hensler of Joliet, who is state treasurer, was guest speaker. She spoke of the federations and member ship drive. The presidents and chairmen gave a two minute oral report on their activities of the year. The next county meeting will be held at Woodstock April 9, 1969, with Woodstock's Woman's club as hostess. Wayne Buehrer and Carol Wieczorek were married in Ingle side Methodist church with Rev. Louis Hillendahl officiating at a 5:30 ceremony. A reception followed at McHenry Country club. Hie bridal party visited Mr. Buehrer at the hospital. TRIPS AND TOURS Mrs. Alice Weber joined a group on a bus tour through the New England States. This was called a "Foliage Color Tour" and anyone who has traveled through the New England states knows how scenic and colorful the country side is. I have been through these states and it is beautiful. Alice is back and says she enjoyed it very much. Charlie and I enjoyed the trip and a visit with our son, Vic, and his wife, Martha, in North Carolina. Vic is stationed at Fort Bragg and they live in a trailer off base. So it was a nice homey visit. To make it even more enjoyable our trip took us through Washington, D^ C., and we stopped there to spend a day with old friends,. Mr. and Mrs. George McGrath who live in Georgetown. They invited their sons, George and Karen and families over, sothe day was spent reminiscing and we had a lovely visit. We met the six grandchildren and they are adorable. CHRISTIAN MOTHERS MEET The regular meeting of the Christian Mother's society was held in St. Peter's hall on Thursday night. A bible vigil conducted by Father Kilduff was held in church proceeding the meeting. It was decided that a bible vigil will be held before a meeting each month starting at 7:30 p.m. Anyone wishing to attend this bible vigil is most welcome. President Jean Kagan opened the meeting. Announcements were made on the Halloween party and smorgasbord Oct. 29 the retreat which will be held PLAN ANNUAL LITTLE LEAGUE • , DANCE OCT. 26 , *t Saturday evening, Oct. 26, at 9 p.m. the festivities w^ll begin marking the annual Little League dance. The scene of the big bash will be the American Le-*. gion home on Ringwood road and everyone is invited to attend. The more the merrier. Each year the Lakelan^ Park boys baseball club spon^j sors this affair which is the main support of the league. Additional equipment to replace* that which has been worn out will be purchased with the proceeds and the remainder wiiij be used to put the field in playing condition in the springy The league maintains the two fields which the majors an§ minors use. We collected dues first and then put things in Mrs. Brunow's car. Then we were on our way. We took about half an hour to walk over there and then we got things ready. The sixth graders built the fire, the fifth graders didthe cooking and the fourth graders were on clean-up. The menu was barbacue, potato chips, carrot and celery sticks, cupcakes and cookies with kool-aid. No one had much to do because everyone helped do the necessary things. By 6:30 everyone was in the woods playing ghost in the Graveyard and got all scrat- Dec. 6 to 8 and the special party on Monday night,- Nov. 25. Plans were made for a special party honoring Mrs. Catherine Kagan, who was chosen as Catholic Woman of the year at the Diocesan Conference on Oct. 6. It will be held at the next meeting Nov. 21. Pie and coffee were served by the refreshment committee. USHERS MEET The ushers of St. Peter*shad their regular meeting at the home of Charles Freund on Wednesday night. The Ten Pins took 1 while the Er-Ki-Gr-Ge's took 3 points. Hie Pandas were stung by the Mosquitoes who took all four points. The Nippies were O while the Klik Klikked with four points. What terrible puns. In the standings there is a whole new outlook with the Mosquitoes and the 8-Balls tied with 11-15. The Er-Ki-Gr-Ke's are third with 10-6. Hie Nippies, Klik and Sock It To Mes are tied for fourth with 9-7. The Bugs are seventh with 8-8 and Jack's Team is eighth with 7-9. The Crooked Cranes moved up to tie for ninth with the Pandas with 6-10 each. The Ten Pins and Bier man's Bombers are tied for eleventh position with 5-11 each. Roy Apel took the men's high handicap with a series of 190- 208-201 for a 644 with handicap. Dick Walinski is high scratch champ with 609. In the Women's division Polly Licastro is still queen with her handicap series of 652. Karen Crook has high scratch series of 467. She is RonCreutz's grandmother. Two little men who usually reside in a donkey cart on a lawn on Shore Drive were taken and not returned.
