Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hantel of Skokie were weekend guests in the Arthur Hoppe home. Rev. and Mrs. TTiomas Johnson of Crystal Lake were Saturday night dinner guests in the Walt Meyer home. Seated on the floor, with chopsticks in hand, they were served a complete Japanese meal. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Burke of Chicago were entertained in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Zickus over the weekend. Mrs. A.P. Freund spent a few days last week with relatives in Waukegan and guests in her home for the weekend were her son, Ralph Freund, and family of DeForest, Wis. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wallace, a teacher at Hill Top school, were also guests in the Arthur Hoppe and Clinton Martin homes last week enroute to their home in Ocala, Fla. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bennett of Chicago were recent guests of Mrs. Mary McCabe at the Villa home. Mrs. Velma Douglas has returned from a ten days vacation at Tomahawk, Wis., where she was accompanied by her brother, George H. Thomas, and wife of Stoughton, Wis. Dr. and Mrs. Raymond Bauer of Grosse Point, Mich., were weekend visitors in the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph L. Bauer. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ulrich, Mrs. Rita Ulrich and daughter, Mrs. William Thomas, and son were dinner guests in the home of Miss Helen Modine in St. Charles Sunday. Miss Mary K. Schmitt spent last week visiting old friends in Sterling, her former home. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Purvey enjoyed a trip through Wisconsin and Minnesota over the weekend. About 155 members of the Eleventh district of the American Legion Auxiliary were present for installation of district officers and to take part in the business meeting and department caravan at the Roosevelt- Aurora Post 84, Aurora, recently. The McHenry unit was represented by the unit president, Mrs. Harold Owen; second vice president , Mrs. Jack Cooper; first vice-president, Mrs. Ceil Violett; secretary; Mrs. Roy Homo; and Eleventh district alternate director, Mrs. George Mrachek. ^ Mrs. Homo, education and scholarship chairman of the Eleventh district, gave her report, and Mrs. Mrachek, membership chairman presented roll call of membership and also gave the response to the distinquished guests. Rep. Charlotte T. Reid was present and gave a short but interesting address. Mr. and Mrs. James Etten of Richmond announce the birth of a son, Brian James, on Oct. 23 at Memorial hospital, Woodstock. The baby weighed 6 lbs., 14 ozs. His mother is the former Mary Kay Freund, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence J. Freund of McHenry. The paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Etten of Ringwood. Youths Hurt As Car Falls Two youths, Robert C. Nichols, of Green street, McHenry, and Frank Nordmeyer of Richmond were injured Monday evening when a car fell on them while they were working on the vehicle on Curran road, McHenry. They told deputies they had taken the transmission out of the auto Saturday and were putting it back when the car shifted, the bumper jack giving away and pinning Nordmeyer under the car. Nichols was struck by the auto as he was getting out from underneath. Mrs. Nora Cole, who hurried out of the house to assist the young men, tripped and fell, injuring her knee, and was taken to McHenry hospital. Her son, Paul, Jr., notified the sheriffs office of the incident. Harrison was born Dec. 7, 1900, in Ringwood. He resided in Harvard, Warren and Chicago prior to moving to Antioch sixteen years ago. The deceased was a member of the Northern Illinois Convervation club of Antioch and served as a Lake County deputy coroner. Survivors are his wife, Helen (Beatty) Harrison; a son, Robert of Sarasota, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Clarence (Arlene) Pearson of Ringwood. The body will rest at the Strang funeral home in Antioch after 2 o'clock Friday afternoon. Services will be conducted at 3 o'clock Saturday, with burial in the Greenwood cemetery. RAY PARCHMAN Ray Parchman of Rural Rt. 3, Harrisburg, 111., a former* Chicago resident, passed away fy Ferrell hospital, Eldorada, Oct. 13 where he had been a patient for a short time, following a lingering illness. Funeral services were held from the Rottman Funeral chapel in Gloconda at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15 with burial in that city. His only survivors are his widow, the former Mary Mc- Andrews, and a brother, Claude Parchman, of Gloconda. Attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Earl McAndrews, son, Joe of McHenry, and Mrs. W. W. Shop In McHenry LOCALCOUPLE HURT IN CRASH Henry and Alma Schweizer of Sunnyside Beach drive, McHenry, were released after treatment from St. Joseph hospital, Elgin, following a twocar crash Tuesday evening on Rt. 31 and Cary road. Joseph Gibbons of Carpentersville told police that as he turned left from Cary road to proceed south on Rt. 31, a car came from behind at a high rate of speed. In order to avoid being hit, he said he changed lanes. The rear fender of the Gibbons vehicle and the left front bunker of the Schweizer car collided. Police believe that as Schweizer applied the brakes to avoid collision, the car went into a spin, causing it to roll over. EDDIE the EDUCATOR says...
